Our love story

Picture of Our love story

After being on the Hinge app on and off since the very first year of Hinge, it’s been somewhat overwhelming, as feeling like it would never happen to me! I even went and had an interview for the Bachelor (can thank my mom for that one). While I hopped off the dating scenes for about a month in Dec 2022. I would ugly cry to my mom that I was now in my 30s still single as a Pringle, so My mom started pressuring me to get back out there. I finally redownloaded the app in January 2023. Had a couple of dates lined up and one in particular, who struck my interest, actually rescheduled on me 3 SEPARATE TIMES, but something told me to keep talking to this guy. We finally had our first date, that Sunday following Valentine’s Day feb 2023. I had him meet me at 8pm, on a Sunday (that’s a work night, can’t believe he met up with me that late! I had to work late thus leading to a late date night) but he met me at one of my favorite spots in Charlotte, Queen Park Social in South End Charlotte off Yancy Rd. We refilled our game tickets about 3 times as our night continued and flowed with endless conversations and quickly found we had a lot in common. As our night came to an end about 2 and hours later … he walked me to my car, gave me an awkward half ass hug (I get it, it’s the first date, how does one say good bye) but me being me and as bold and outspoken as I am and thinking, damn, we just had a hell of a good night and no kiss; only a half ass hug. As he was walking away to his car, I yelled out “hey, you forgetting something!” And pointed to my lips. As he stumbled awkwardly back over to my car, he finally gave me a big hug and followed with a big smooch. I’d say after that, everything else changed for me (and him!).

We ended up going out on a 2nd date that following day, Monday night where I came over to his place and he made me dinner. We got drunk on wine, had endless conversations and lots of laughter. Later that week, He made dinner reservations at Dresslers in Huntersville, NC where he told me our reservations time was at 6:30pm, me being late per usual (to anything I do in life) he quickly learned that about me and actually made the reservation for 7pm so that I’d be on time (which we were! Prob the only thing I’ve ever been on time for in my life!). That night at Dresslers, he swooned me with a bottle of wine, appetizer and our entrees followed by ice cream at one of his favorite spots, Kilwins (I always get the Superman blue ice cream and any man that can love me for a spoon full of dark blue ice cream all over my mouth, is a green light for me!! He clearly passed the test!)

Following that night, we started watching Ted Lasso, and continued our night at his place together. He then causally asked me, “do you wanna be my gf”? I clearly said yes! As we continued to have spontaneous date nights, we forgot what date we decided our anniversary was so we made up March 11th as our anniversary!

As we continued our journey together, one of our favorite things to do together is to go to Charlotte FC games! While he was still single and had just moved to Charlotte, NC, he bought 2 supporter section season tickets, thinking he could easily meet a girl and be able to use it to his advantage to take a girl on a date and needless to say, I was the first date and now his forever Charlotte FC date! We both play soccer as well and referee soccer so that was clearly a plus! After that, we decided we both were no longer going to see anyone else and to remove our dating apps and the rest is history!

I remember my best guy friend from college was getting married and at the time of the invitation I checked SINGLE, a month later I had texted him if I could change mine to a plus one. He said he was only allowing couples that were either together for awhile or married but would let me know if ppl canceled.. later he told me “yall better end up working out, come on and bring him!”After the wedding, the bride threw her bouquet… guess who caught it … ME! Hunter was fighting for his life that night!!

So now that I’ve introduced you to our story, pls meet, Hunter Glasgow and now… drumroll please….me, the future Mrs Glasgow!! So let me continue telling you about the rest of our story!

As our dating life was seamless as it felt so easy and as if we had known each other for years, we were on opposite sides of the city. He was living in Huntersville, NC and I was living in Charlotte, NC closer to the boarder of SC. If anyone knows anything about 485N, you know a 30 min drive takes about an hour anywhere you go and there is no way around it. He worked closer on my side of town, but I had a roommate, so we were challenged with not wanting to burden my roommate feeling like she had a 3rd roommate living at our apartment so I traveled across town almost every night to and from for work, refing soccer games in SC and back to Huntersville. It was certainly a challenge for us but thankfully, my roommate and Hunter were both PA’s so they had a common interest of being able to relate to one another being in the healthcare world. Fun fact about our story: back in college I did a random palm reading and she told me I’d end up with someone in healthcare… little did I know my palm reading would come true!

Fast forward in time, it’s now summer and both of our leases were coming to an end in Dec 2023. We had to make a decision whether we were moving in together or not. We looked into possibly renting an apt Together but wanted to have 2-3 bedrooms for guest and a work from home space but those rent prices were insane. So we looked to see how much renting a home would be and it was just as crazy that it made sense to buy and have a mortgage. So while we were still freshly dating, it seemed crazy we were discussing the possibility of BUYING A HOUSE. Fast fwd to August we found a great price for a townhome in Charlotte in between where we both work and moved in, in August 2023. As we settled to being new home owners and doing lots of DIY projects thanks to Tik Tok! Shortly after, we went on our first trip together to Europe to go watch a professional English soccer match together and had the absolute best time! Because his last name is Glasgow, his wish was to make a trip to Scotland and tour the country!

Fast forward to December, Hunter was planning a complete surprise engagement with all our close friends and even my close friends from my home town in Columbia, SC! He got the ring specialty made by himself (props to him there!) and has my bestest and closest 2 friends (my old roommate and work bestie) a surprise engagement in 2 WEEKS TIME!! Can’t imagine the stress they felt but it was held at Fahrenheit in Charlotte, NC. While we arrived for our dinner reservations, Hunter seemed off and I noticed he was already at the bar on his 3rd beer! In my mind I’m thinking, damn! Didn’t know we were turning up like that in here! As our group dinner comes to an end, my old roommate, Megan, asks me to help her fix her hair in the bathroom, at this point, I knew something was up bc I knew damn well her hair was fine! But I went to the bathroom and didn’t think much else if it. During that time, everyone flocked to the outdoor rooftop area. I saw everyone rounded up looking at us but Hunter tells me he wants a photo for his mom for Christmas, so in my mind I’m thinking, we gotta get this photo and I need it to be on my good side! Seconds later, Hunter gets down on one knee, and asks me to Marry him, of course I said YES.. followed by me ugly crying!!

As our journey together continues, we adopted a Great Dane puppy together!! While we still have lots of DIY home projects, places to visit, and attending Charlotte FC matches, we are now planning our 2025 Wedding! We just marked our date and venue for Memorial Day weekend at The Ballantyne Hotel and while we’re still debating on where we’re going for honey moon, our ideas are either the Virgin Islands or Aruba, def somewhere tropical bc it’s 5 o’clock somewhere!!

Cheers to many more years !!
Heather + Hunter ❤️
