Life is so much better when it's shared. We come to love not by finding a perfect person but by, learning to see an imperfect person perfectly. You don't marry someone you can live with; you marry the person you cannot live without.
How did they meet ?
Heather ran in the Quad City Marathon Sept 2022 with a group of close girlfriends. One of them, Kelly, was eager to introduce her to a committee volunteer, Patrick who was working the the finish line that day. Heather, however, had other plans-or rather, no plans at all to meet anyone. She had just finished a race and felt exhausted, sweaty, and in no mood for introductions. Instead, she asked Kelly to simply point him out so she could sneak a quick, discreet look.
That glance was all it took.
Patrick stood out immediately- smiling ear to ear, carrying a massive bright orange construction cone, and yet radiating genuine joy. Despite volunteering and hauling something heavy, he looked completely as ease and unmistakably happy. Heather was instantly drawn to his cheerful spirit and easygoing nature. She could tell right then that he was kind, friendly and full of good humor. It was love at first sight (sneak peak) ...even though they never actually met that day.
Months passed, but Patrick never quite left Heather's thoughts. Eventually, she and Kelly found themselves talking about him again and Kelly encouraged Heather to reach out on Facebook. Nervous but hopeful, Heather did a little "research" first before finally mustering the courage to send a message.
The rest, as they say, is history.
After nearly two years of dating Patrick popped the question during a family vacation in Savannah, Georgia. Heather's son, Jackson was in on the surprise - and even served as the couple's photographer for that unforgettable moment. And just like that, the story that began with a marathon, a bright orange cone, and a secret glance turned into a forever kind of love.
