Heather and Kevin met in August of 2017 at their Teach in Spain orientation in Madrid and quickly became friends. During their year in Madrid they spent a lot of time together at their favorite tap houses, relaxing in their favorite parks, and enjoying game nights at Kevin’s apartment. They occasionally went on day trips to explore nearby cities in Spain and even made it to Malta together during a school puente.

Since Kevin returned to Michigan and Heather to Minnesota, their first year back was spent long distance with Heather and Kevin meeting up during Heather's school breaks in various places in Wisconsin and Iowa. In the summer of 2019, Kevin decided to move to Minnesota, even though he remains a loyal Lions fan.

They adopted 2 cats (whom they are obsessed with) and endured the pandemic both working from home in a single bedroom apartment. They enjoy biking, running, swimming, watching movies and TV shows, going to breweries, playing games, attending sporting events, and traveling together. For their honeymoon they are planning to return to Madrid where it all started.
