Spend a day at Brisbane's Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary; the world's first and largest koala sanctuary. Hold one of the 130 koalas, hand-feed kangaroos, and meet 100 species of other Australian native animals, all in beautiful, natural settings.

Be entertained by the Australian outback farm-experience and Sheep Dog Show, held three times daily. Watch the skilled sheep dog handlers and their canine companions herd sheep through green pastures. Meet the furry and woolly stars of the show at the end of each session.

Be sure not to miss the Free Flight Raptor Show, held twice daily, featuring the sanctuary's owls, eagles, hawks, and falcons, as they demonstrate their incredible flight abilities. In the Brisbane suburb of Fig Tree Pocket, a tiny paradise for Aussie animals exists. Cruise down the Brisbane River to the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, where you can get an unforgettable, up-close look at these lovable, tree-dwelling creatures plus a whole array of only-in-Oz animals.

Step aboard a modern cruise boat in the heart of the city, and set off for your meandering ride down the Brisbane River. As you pass by modern mansions and historic Queensland homes, your captain provides entertaining narration about Brisbane, past and present. Grab tea or a bite to eat if you'd like during your 1-hour-and-15-minute ride.

Disembark at the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary with plenty of time to explore. The world's first and largest koala sanctuary, this eco-park is home to more than 130 cuddly, eucalyptus-munching marsupials and a variety of critters native to the land Down Under.

Watch the Tasmanian devil feeding while colorful parrots and cockatoos chirp overhead. Hand-feed a sherbet-splashed rainbow lorikeet or a curious kangaroo, and watch a sheep herding demonstration by the resident dogs at the sanctuary's farm.

The main attraction is, of course, the Koala Forest. Make your way into the enclosure for a chance to hold one of these sleepy, snuggly creatures. Hop aboard a luxury vessel and cruise in comfort around Moreton Bay's beautiful waterways on your way to Moreton Island. On arrival, your adventure starts immediately. Jump into a 4-wheel-drive vehicle and ride off the ferry directly onto the beach. Moreton Island consists of 98 percent protected national park land, and it is the world's third-largest sand island.

The location becomes your playground, as you travel along Middle Road. Take the scenic route past forests full of eucalyptus and 250-year-old trees on your way to the desert. Here, brave the giant sand dunes as you sand board and toboggan, reaching speeds of up to 30 miles per hour (50 km/h). After working up an appetite, enjoy a fresh picnic lunch prepared by your friendly guide.

Once lunch is finished, hop back on your vehicle and head to your next activity. Reach the Tangalooma Shipwrecks, 15 wrecked vessels located just 160 feet (50 m) off the beach. Snorkel here, among Queensland's most diverse marine creatures, including a wide range of life like parrotfish, wobbegong, and clownfish.
