After getting to know each other we found out we had both prayed to find that "one" if they existed, within a couple days of meeting. We had both given up, but asked if there was that "one" please send them, because we were done.
Joe worked at Scooters bar, and I felt the urge to stop there after dropping off a movie, even though I had never been there and don't frequent bars. He was the bartender. He makes strong margaritas (at least for girls he likes). I thought he was funny and I was slightly flirty. I guess he was actually shy and intimidated for some reason. Luckily he managed to slip me his number and I texted him later even though he can't make a mojito (running joke). We instantly fell for each other, officially started dating, and within a couple weeks were living between each other's places. The kids fell for him almost as quickly as I did.
We spent the summer becoming a closer couple and family. We spent a lot of time "gunslinging" with Joe, hanging with friends, had a fun trip over the 4th, spent time at the fair with Piper, Joe helped me see Hunter off to UW, went to a concert, went to movies, went swimming, most importantly we cuddled and watched movies and shows we each liked at home.
At the end of August we adopted our 1st "baby" together, a 7 wk kitten we named Freya. She is full of love and shenanigans. We also decided to move in together at the end of the month.
Both of us, being hesitant people, were shocked to move in together after just 4 months. However, everything felt natural. The kids, the animals, the simplicity of it all. Before I met Joe, I would've told you soulmates don't exist. I was wrong.
On December 20th, 2022 we took an overnight trip to Denver. Joe booked a carriage ride downtown through all the Christmas lights. We had a stubborn horse named Willow for our ride. Afterwards, right outside the restaurant, Joe acted like he forgot his wallet and then pulled out a ring, got down on one knee, and asked if I would marry him! I started to tear up, of course I would!
And here we are, planning a once in a lifetime wedding! We are planning ahead to afford the wedding we want, and to give out-of-state family the opportunity to afford to come if they are able to attend. We love you all and hope to have you by our side on our special day!
