Our Story

Brett and Heather met at job interview on May 2, 2016. Heather was interviewing for a job at Brett’s firm and his co-workers thought it would be a good idea to introduce her to Brett since they shared some things in common and to get a better feel of the company’s culture. Well Heather was not interested in the job, but after a great and memorable conversation, she definitely felt a spark with Brett and so did he. The next day Heather sent a “Thank You” for the meeting email, after exchanging several emails, no connection was made. (Brett’s side to the story is that he was being professional and hoping to meet me in a social event with one of the charitable organizations he recommended).

Fast forward to December 27, 2016 Brett and Heather reconnected on the dating app, Coffee Meets Bagel. Their first (or second) date was on January 1, 2017, at Dada’s restaurant in Downtown Delray Beach, what a way to start off the New Year! The following months they enjoyed getting to know each other, good food, amazing travel, interesting culture, and many events.

This past summer, to celebrate their 18 month Half-iversary, they took a cruise in Alaska. After viewing the glaciers by day (Heather was hoping to see a penguin, but knows they don’t live there) that night was even more amazing, a show, dinner at the ship’s steakhouse, followed by The Newly Wed Game, dancing, and a late night sunset to conclude the evening, or so she thought. When they got back to the cabin their attendant made towel animals in the shape of 2 penguins (a special request by Brett). Heather took a little while to notice as Brett patiently waited finally redirecting her attention to something sparkly tucked under the wing of the towel penguin. As soon as she saw the ring, Brett got down on one knee, and asked Heather to be his wife (with her parent’s blessing of course!).
