Heather and Keith met at the end of her junior year and his first senior year at James Madison University. One day, while watching The Masters Tournament, Keith and his roommates decided that it was far too beautiful a day to be stuck inside watching TV. So, the guys hauled the living room TV, an extension cord, some chairs, and a cooler out to their front yard.


One of Keith’s neighbors had joined the watch party and eventually called Heather over from a nearby porch. She didn’t stay long, but a few days later, she pulled up beside Keith while he was walking home and asked for his phone number.


They started to hang out and quickly hit it off, but the school year was coming to an end. They promised to keep in touch over the summer and even made the 4-hour trips to meet each other’s families.


When the summer was finally over and the two returned to Harrisonburg, they quickly became inseparable. They binge-watched Peaky Blinders and The Great British Bake Off, explored local restaurants and coffee shops, took classes together, and had homework dates at the East Campus library. After graduating from JMU in May 2019, Heather and Keith stayed in Harrisonburg for two weeks just to have more time together and try every place they had never visited.


Shortly after graduation, Heather moved in with Keith in his hometown of Sterling, VA, for her summer internship. The couple locked down new jobs and moved into their first apartment in Sterling in May 2020. Heather continued her education and earned a Masters Degree in criminal justice, and graduated summa cum laude. The couple would eventually adopt a puppy named Franklin and move to Reston, VA.


While Heather and Keith still love to find new restaurants and breweries, they also began to travel together. On top of the family trips and weddings, they took their first trip to Boston and went on a cruise to Mexico, Honduras, and Belize. Finally, they took Heathers first international flight to France. While taking in the view of the French coastline from the mountains of Eze, Keith upheld his promise to Heather that they would be engaged before their 6th anniversary (by a single day).
