Our Wedding

Doug and I met many years ago at a patient conference for the rare disease that we share. I always joke that Neuromyelitis Optica (NMO) brought us together, but really it was the kindness I saw in his eyes. We quickly became friends, talking on the phone about life and NMO. It became every day that we talked, sometimes for hours at a time. Always meeting back in Los Angeles for the Patient Day our friendship continued to go. Until one day when what was friendship blossomed into love. And there we were, with Doug on one knee asking me to marry him.
