Erich and Heidi met while singing in the Greystone Chorus at the University of Saskatchewan in 2012. After many rides to work on "Erich's way home" they got to know each other more and Heidi started gaining a key interest for studying at the Murray Library (a frequent place where one Erich Chang could be found).

After some time Erich asked Heidi out on their first date, to go out for froyo and a "jam session" after finding out that Heidi played piano. While this was good in theory, Heidi did not like playing instruments in front of anyone so she continued to persuade Erich to put on a one man concert of all of the instruments he was proficient in.

After a short while of these hang outs, Erich asked Heidi to be his girlfriend on March 9, 2013. That year they travelled to Europe on a choir tour during the summer where Heidi got to spend some quality time with Erich's wonderful grandma Mei Nei.

In 2015 Erich moved to Melbourne Australia to pursue a JD of Law and began the long stint of long distance for Heidi and Erich. In 2017 Heidi joined Erich in Australia for a year after finishing her undergrad in Accounting before beginning her masters of accounting in 2018. in 2019 Erich moved to Ithaca NY to begin a masters in Public Health and moved back to Saskatoon during the Covid Pandemic. Heidi and Erich were reunited at last....and then Erich got an articling position in Vernon BC.

In 2024 after 11 long years, Erich finally asked Heidi the age old question, "will you marry me".
