Mike Loula and Heidi Kang met at Grayslake Central High School. They started out as friends who would occasionally talk during classes and after school clubs.

After many interactions and stolen glances, Heidi took it upon herself to investigate whether Mike had the same feelings as she did. She reached out to their mutual friend, Joe, who asked Mike if he would be interested in dating someone who liked him. Not wanting to divulge too much information, Joe didn't tell Mike exactly who was interested. Mike, not wanting to lead a random girl on, responded that he was not interested which led Heidi to be heartbroken.

Fast forward to February 8, 2015, Heidi decided to ask Mike to the turnabout dance as it was Senior year and the time to take risks. Much to her surprise and delight, he said yes. Mike asked for Heidi's number shortly after. Two days later on February 10, 2015, Heidi asked Mike to be her boyfriend and the rest is history...
