After matching on Hinge and messaging back and forth about Starbucks coffee orders, the first date was scheduled on Sunday afternoon, June 12th, 2022. Slabtown, a rooftop bar on the Belt Line, was the destination of choice. Daniel preemptively informed Heidi that he planned to wear “athleisure”, which she found to be a simple yet impressive gesture of forethought and competence (haha). Upon realizing the restaurant was closed, they pivoted to plan B, the ole faithful, Ladybird. During their conversation, Daniel learned that Heidi was born and raised in Knoxville, TN, and attended the University of Tennessee for undergrad, a detail which she didn’t disclose on her Hinge profile. Daniel admitted that, had he known this critical information, he would’ve been far more reticent about matching and asking Heidi out, seeing as the mere thought of pursuing a vols fan would be an unconscionable and treasonous offense as a lifelong Georgia Bulldog. Daniel has since stated that he was “only kidding”. And Heidi begs to differ! All that to say, the date went very well and the rest is history!
