Our Wedding

Before&nbsp;anything&nbsp;else,&nbsp;Kaden&nbsp;was&nbsp;my&nbsp;best&nbsp;friend&nbsp;—&nbsp;the&nbsp;kind&nbsp;of&nbsp;friend&nbsp;who&nbsp;could&nbsp;make&nbsp;me&nbsp;laugh&nbsp;until&nbsp;I&nbsp;couldn’t&nbsp;breathe,&nbsp;who&nbsp;I&nbsp;could&nbsp;talk&nbsp;to&nbsp;about&nbsp;anything,&nbsp;and&nbsp;who’s&nbsp;always&nbsp;been&nbsp;there&nbsp;through&nbsp;every&nbsp;high&nbsp;and&nbsp;low. We&nbsp;officially&nbsp;started&nbsp;dating&nbsp;in&nbsp;November&nbsp;of&nbsp;2013,&nbsp;but&nbsp;even&nbsp;before&nbsp;that,&nbsp;we&nbsp;were&nbsp;making&nbsp;memories&nbsp;we’d&nbsp;never&nbsp;forget&nbsp;—&nbsp;like&nbsp;the&nbsp;time&nbsp;we&nbsp;drove&nbsp;through&nbsp;a&nbsp;massive&nbsp;puddle&nbsp;in&nbsp;my&nbsp;car&nbsp;just&nbsp;for&nbsp;fun,&nbsp;or&nbsp;the&nbsp;night&nbsp;we&nbsp;sat&nbsp;parked&nbsp;in&nbsp;a&nbsp;bank&nbsp;parking&nbsp;lot&nbsp;after&nbsp;10&nbsp;p.m.,&nbsp;with&nbsp;sprinklers&nbsp;pouring&nbsp;into&nbsp;my&nbsp;car.&nbsp;We&nbsp;had&nbsp;accidentally&nbsp;acquired&nbsp;a&nbsp;caution&nbsp;cone&nbsp;earlier&nbsp;that&nbsp;day,&nbsp;and&nbsp;when&nbsp;a&nbsp;police&nbsp;officer&nbsp;rolled&nbsp;up&nbsp;to&nbsp;ask&nbsp;what&nbsp;we&nbsp;were&nbsp;doing,&nbsp;I&nbsp;told&nbsp;Kaden&nbsp;to&nbsp;dump&nbsp;my&nbsp;purse&nbsp;on&nbsp;the&nbsp;floor&nbsp;to&nbsp;look&nbsp;“busy.”&nbsp;It&nbsp;might&nbsp;not&nbsp;have&nbsp;helped&nbsp;that&nbsp;Kaden&nbsp;also&nbsp;admitted&nbsp;he&nbsp;was&nbsp;only&nbsp;17&nbsp;and&nbsp;past&nbsp;curfew.&nbsp;Somehow,&nbsp;we&nbsp;didn’t&nbsp;get&nbsp;in&nbsp;trouble&nbsp;—&nbsp;just&nbsp;another&nbsp;wild&nbsp;memory&nbsp;that&nbsp;made&nbsp;our&nbsp;bond&nbsp;even&nbsp;stronger. In&nbsp;March&nbsp;of&nbsp;2018,&nbsp;we&nbsp;moved&nbsp;in&nbsp;together,&nbsp;and&nbsp;in&nbsp;the&nbsp;middle&nbsp;of&nbsp;a&nbsp;pandemic,&nbsp;Kaden&nbsp;built&nbsp;me&nbsp;a&nbsp;computer&nbsp;—&nbsp;a&nbsp;gesture&nbsp;that&nbsp;perfectly&nbsp;sums&nbsp;up&nbsp;the&nbsp;way&nbsp;he&nbsp;shows&nbsp;love:&nbsp;quiet,&nbsp;thoughtful,&nbsp;and&nbsp;incredibly&nbsp;nerdy.&nbsp;Since&nbsp;then,&nbsp;gaming&nbsp;together&nbsp;has&nbsp;become&nbsp;our&nbsp;nightly&nbsp;ritual&nbsp;—&nbsp;our&nbsp;way&nbsp;of&nbsp;checking&nbsp;in,&nbsp;laughing,&nbsp;and&nbsp;just&nbsp;being&nbsp;“us.” Through&nbsp;the&nbsp;loss&nbsp;of&nbsp;Kaden’s&nbsp;grandpa&nbsp;and&nbsp;my&nbsp;dad,&nbsp;we&nbsp;leaned&nbsp;on&nbsp;each&nbsp;other&nbsp;in&nbsp;ways&nbsp;that&nbsp;made&nbsp;our&nbsp;relationship&nbsp;even&nbsp;deeper.&nbsp;We’ve&nbsp;walked&nbsp;through&nbsp;hard&nbsp;days,&nbsp;and&nbsp;we’ve&nbsp;also&nbsp;had&nbsp;more&nbsp;nights&nbsp;of&nbsp;laughing&nbsp;until&nbsp;we&nbsp;cry&nbsp;than&nbsp;we&nbsp;could&nbsp;ever&nbsp;count. Then,&nbsp;in&nbsp;February&nbsp;of&nbsp;2024,&nbsp;after&nbsp;more&nbsp;than&nbsp;a&nbsp;decade&nbsp;of&nbsp;life&nbsp;together,&nbsp;Kaden&nbsp;asked&nbsp;me&nbsp;to&nbsp;marry&nbsp;him&nbsp;—&nbsp;and&nbsp;of&nbsp;course,&nbsp;I&nbsp;said&nbsp;yes. After&nbsp;11&nbsp;unforgettable&nbsp;years,&nbsp;we’re&nbsp;so&nbsp;excited&nbsp;to&nbsp;finally&nbsp;tie&nbsp;the&nbsp;knot&nbsp;with&nbsp;our&nbsp;favorite&nbsp;people&nbsp;by&nbsp;our&nbsp;side.&nbsp;Thank&nbsp;you&nbsp;for&nbsp;being&nbsp;part&nbsp;of&nbsp;our&nbsp;story&nbsp;—&nbsp;we&nbsp;can't&nbsp;wait&nbsp;to&nbsp;celebrate&nbsp;with&nbsp;you!
