Kevin and I met plebe year for the first time on Stribling coming back from daily mass. I was trying to take a cute photo of Bancroft Hall and then this random guy hopped in my photo! I was actually so mad, who did this guy think he was?

The real action started two days later when I called Kevin to see what uniform he was wearing to mass (no I was not taking my shot) and he started texting me. We went on our first date to breakfast and adoration on March 27, 2021 and despite hitting it off, I insisted we were ‘just friends’. However, Kevin won me over shortly after and we made things official on April 15, 2021!

I am so grateful that the Lord bestowed the gift of our relationship on me so early in our lives. We have gotten to experience so many memorable milestones at the Naval Academy together like Herndon, 2 for 7s, and Ring Dance. Kevin has been a solid rock of support for all of my endeavors both in the academic year and in summer training (thanks for all the coffees over Plebe Summer!).

Kevin proposed the day after Ring Dance on May 21, 2023 at Calvert Cliffs State Park in Solomons, MD. We took a day trip with our dear friends Kai and Angie which started off with sandwiches for lunch and some telestrations. Previously, Kevin had expressed the desire for a private proposal (which I took as literally just the two of us), so my guard was totally down. Then, we hiked about 2 miles to the beach, got in the water, then laid in the sun for a while. Just as I was suggesting we head out, Angie begged me to go looking for shark teeth with her. I reluctantly agreed and we all headed over to the cliffs (the most beautiful part of the park but still somehow it wasn’t clicking). Kevin immediately got in the water to ‘look for the teeth’ but I was not so quick. It took me a solid 5 minutes to get in the water (despite many attempts by Kai and Angie to come up with reasons as to why I should get in) but I finally did to ‘take a picture with Kevin’. Then, I got the surprise of my life as Kevin dropped down to one knee and asked me to marry him! I was so shocked that it took me 6 seconds to respond but it was the most natural and freeing YES!

As we continue to mutually grow in faith and place our trust in the Lord, I am more and more grateful God gave me a partner like Kevin to chase sainthood with!
