Our Wedding

Our story started the modern way- with a swipe- however, it was anything but ordinary. We met on a Christian dating app, both drawn to each others love for Jesus and desire to build a Christ-centered relationship. After matching, Cole quickly took the opportunity to invite Helena to a Maverick City Worship concert, and from there, something special began to unfold. Cole got to see how Helena worshipped the Lord beside thousands of people. He then got to see her love for her friends as they spent their 2nd date at Busch Gardens with Helenas community group riding rides and learning more about each other. But it was on their third date while Cole cooked steak and shrimp, and got to watch Helena decorate the Christmas tree in the first week of November while listening to worship music and talking about her family, that Cole knew she was the one. A love rooted in faith, family, friendship, and intentionality was just beginning to grow.

How It All Began

Cole knew early on that Helena was the one, but he also knew with family being important to both of them, that they needed to spend some quality time with the families and for Cole to get the blessings. In January, Helena made the trip to meet the Hedge family. Helena had to spend 3 days under the same roof with the Hedges, experiencing a family hockey game outing, dinners, football watch parties with Coles hometown friends, and a full family cookout. Throughout the trip, it was evident to Coles family that she was the one and he needed to lock it down.Then it was time for Cole to receive the blessing from Helena's family. But with Helena's family being so important to her, Cole couldn't just ask her dad. He had to ask her Mom, stepfather Richard and Uncle. He had great conversations with Helena's family and after a couple dinners and a few gifts, Cole had the approval from everyone except her Father who lives in Colombia. Cole and Helena soon after booked a trip and flew to Colombia to meet her father or as Cole likes to call him El Jefe. They went to Helena's favorite restaurants, watched El Jefe beat Cole in every Colombian game he could think of, and spent quality family time together. It was there that in front of Helena's father (El Jefe), her uncle, aunt, and sister, that Cole gave a speech in Spanish, asking for her hand in marriage. With a resounding Yes from all parties, Cole planned the perfect surprise. On a Friday evening shortly after, he got down on one knee and asked Helena to be his forever. After she said yes, he had one more surprise waiting. All their closest friends, Cole's family, and her family were waiting at a nearby brewery to celebrate the beginning of forever.

The Proposal

As we count down the days to saying I Do, we are overwhelmed with gratitude. This journey has been full of laughter, growth, faith, and love, and we are just getting started.We believe that marriage is more than a beautiful day, its a lifelong covenant before God, built on grace, service, and joy. We are so excited to step into this new chapter together and cant wait to celebrate with all of you, the people who have cheered us on, prayed for us, and loved us through the seasons.Here is to a lifetime of worship, adventures, family, and purpose - as Mr. and Mrs. Hedge
