Hilary and Derek met in the summer of 2013 where their fondness of one another really took off following a Kenny Chesney concert in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (so yinzer of them). After several months of dating, Derek decided that he would move to Florida to begin his graduate studies at FGCU that following spring while Hilary was finishing her undergraduate studies at Penn State University. During the [extremely] long drive to Florida, Derek unexpectedly asked Hilary to move in with him following her graduation in the summer. She agreed without hesitation. From their retirement community condo in Fort Myers (in addition to one eccentric cat) to their first house in Gainesville (in addition to two more pets - Hilary is in vet school, what did you expect?), this couple has endured so many wonderful adventures together. Derek popped the question in Saint Augustine, Florida on December 15, 2017 while the two were exploring the beautiful Flagler College. Need a laugh? Keep reading... It was nighttime beside a fountain in the courtyard when Derek got down on one knee and revealed the stunning engagement ring. For those of you who know Hilary know that she can be quite emotional...over everything... and hysterically began to cry (a very loud, ugly cry at that). Just as she was blubbering the words "yes of course" a cop came out from the bushes to see if this seemingly distraught woman was okay. Once he realized that he was interfering with a proposal he agreed to give them their privacy in the courtyard for few more minutes. (The least he could've done was offer to take a photo, right?)
