Hillary and Adam’s story began on New Years Eve 2021 during an unseasonably warm December evening, when a last-minute decision to meet up for coffee at Café Nero organically morphed into a lengthy stroll along the Minuteman Bike Path. Hillary was very late to the date, but she made up for it with a witty quip, looking up at Adam as he approached her for the first time, to ask, Do you have covid? When Adam responded that he did not, Hillary gave him a hug. The hug lasted for the entire walk, as conversation grew richer, guards were let down, and any first-date ~awk~ went undetected. By the end of that first meet-up, Adam knew the date was going well, so he didn’t kiss Hillary goodnight, keeping the mystery alive. They decided to extend the date in creative ways, texting and then talking on the phone at midnight when the new year began and for another three hours after that. Hillary still went to an exercise class later that morning. Adam did not. Yet by Valentines Day, Adam would find himself stretched out in twelve different directions on a Reformer Pilates machine in class alongside Hillary. And the rest was history. After reading through Adam’s dating profile in the weeks leading up to that initial connection, Hillary couldn’t contain her excitement for Adam’s profession and their shared interest in (read: obsession with) IFS therapy (or Internal Family Systems, for those who aren’t mental health nerds). He was intrigued by her tales of weekends spent in the thick of yoga teacher training, while she was impressed by his depth of knowledge for all-things-film-related and how easily he could make her belly-laugh. Adam and Hillary fell for each other quickly in the following months, even catching covid for the first time together and spending the week quarantined – no smell or taste, but a whole lot of blossoming (feverish) love.
