Once upon a time, in late 2010, a sweet young thing received an invite to sing karaoke with a friend. When she showed up to a nearby hotel bar in jeans and a running sweatshirt, she sat herself quietly in a corner. She was underdressed and didn't know any of the friends of friends who were also in attendance.

Within a few minutes, a gentleman who was clearly part of the 'friends of friends' leaned over to the sweet young thing and delivered the pick-up line he'd been playing with since this young woman walked into the room: "You must be the shy one of the group."

It turns out, the sweet young thing was Hillary. She giggled to herself: "shy one?!" She smiled and nodded and, for the most part, disregarded this pick-up-line-wielding individual. The night continued and the friends had a rambunctious night, but the pick-up-liner and the sweet young thing enjoyed their nights parallel to each other, never really connecting.

A few nights later, Hillary's phone dinged and she saw a text: "We thought you were fun. Would you like to get dinner?"

Almost fourteen years later, Hills and D have become each other's best friends and biggest support systems (Hillary's sentiments) and each other's reason for high blood pressure medication and grey hair (Dion's reflections).
