Our Wedding

It all started at Red Deer College, back when we were both in our early twenties—two young souls wandering through the busy hallways, not quite aware that our paths were meant to cross. We shared classes, played recreational hockey together, and laughed with the same friends. On the ice, we were teammates; off the ice, we were just friends. But there was always something unspoken between us—a quiet spark, a lingering glance across the dressing room—that neither of us dared to acknowledge. For two years, we were friends, connected by the same world but not yet ready to leap into something deeper. Tanner headed off to the University of Alberta, and I moved to Vermilion, each of us stepping into the next chapter of our lives, our paths momentarily diverging.But as life has a way of doing, our journeys weren’t finished. A couple of years later, I moved to Calgary to start a new job, and the city became the setting for the next chapter in our story. Tanner and I were still connected by social media, but it wasn’t until a couple of months after I’d settled into my new life that he reached out. A simple message on Facebook: "What part of the city are you in? What are you doing for work? We should grab a drink and catch up! "It had been a long time, but somehow, it felt like no time had passed at all. We talked for hours, bonding over our shared love of hockey, reminiscing about the old days, and learning how much we had changed and grown in the time apart. The conversation was easy, the laughter was effortless, and the pizza—well, it was perfect. We closed down the restaurant that night, and by the end of our meal, Tanner had already planned our next date.It was one of those moments where everything just clicked. The timing felt right, the connection undeniable. And from that night forward, we never looked back. We spent the next few months rediscovering each other, this time not as friends, but as something more—something deep and real.Now, every memory we’ve created together, every laugh shared, every moment of support, feels like it was meant to be. Looking back, we both realize that we’d always been on the same path; it just took us a little while to catch up.And so here we are, two people who once shared only the same friendship circle, now sharing a life. What started as a flirtatious interest has turned into a love that feels like home. No matter where we go, or where life takes us next, I know this: It was always you.

Jacalynn and I go way back — 17 years to be exact. We were friends through all sort of from the days of double-layered tank tops and beat-up Ugg boots to the unforgettable adventures and trips we’ve had together. We’ve lived together, laughed until we couldn’t breathe, and supported each other through every twist and turn life has thrown our way. Through all the challenges, the celebrations, and everything in between, our bond has only grown stronger with time.

She’s one of the most loyal and caring people I know, always putting others before herself and showing up in ways that make you feel seen and valued. Her fierce independence and determination inspire me every day, and she’s the type of person who will fight for the people she loves with everything she’s got. We’ve been through thick and thin, and I know I can always count on her, no matter what. Our friendship is truly one of the most meaningful parts of my life, and I’m beyond grateful to have her by my side.

The way you care for others is nothing short of remarkable, and I truly feel so blessed to have you in my life. We first crossed paths 9 years ago when I became an RVT, and right from the start, you helped me navigate the challenges of vet med with your wisdom, comedy, and guidance. You have this incredible gift of making people feel seen, valued, and understood, no matter the situation. Life has thrown us some challenges, but through it all, we’ve managed to find the silver lining in many situations together.

We’ve laughed, cried, and given each other tough love through career decisions and love decisions alike. You’ve always kept me grounded, held me accountable, and shown me the strength of true friendship. I know, without a doubt, that I can count on you — not just as a friend, but as someone who enriches my life in ways I can never fully express.

There is something so very special about the women who come randomly into your life and instantly make it better, and you are one of those rare gems. We met six years ago, but it feels like we’ve always been friends. Your kindness radiates like sunlight on a cloudy day, and your heart is always open to others, always ready to listen and support. Whether we are solving world problems on a hike or enjoying a glass of wine ( not usually at the same time) you bring out the best versions of people.
And let’s not forget how amazing you are at hyping people up—you’ve got that rare ability to lift others with your energy and enthusiasm. Your strength to carry even the toughest burdens life has made you endure is nothing short of admirable.

Danielle and I have shared over a decade of friendship, and no matter where life leads us or how far apart we may be, there has always been nothing but respect and admiration between us. Alongside Jacalynn, the three of us have grown up together, supporting and cheering each other on through every phase of life. From the days of being teenagers, figuring out who we were, to now, as confident, determined boss babes, we’ve always been there for each other, lifting one another up with unwavering love. We’ve witnessed each other's growth and evolution, from the small, everyday moments to the big, life-changing milestones. Through it all, our bond has only strengthened, like fine wine, maturing beautifully with time. I’m beyond grateful for the way we’ve been there for each other, offering support, encouragement, and love every step of the way.

My Catey girl, my family, my favourite young woman. I’ve had the privilege of watching you blossom into the extraordinary person you are today — fearless, strong, and full of a wisdom far beyond your years. The way you carry yourself with such grace, confidence, and determination is nothing short of inspiring. You approach every challenge with a strength that leaves me in awe, and I admire how you take on the world, always standing tall and ready to conquer whatever comes your way.

What fills my heart the most is the memories we’ve made together, from coast to coast and beyond. Whether we’re dancing on the boat, laughing at our family, sharing those quiet moments on our bike rides, or just being there for each other, each experience we’ve shared has only deepened the bond we have. These memories are a beautiful reminder of how truly special our connection is, no matter how much time passes or how far apart we may be. I am beyond grateful for every moment we’ve spent together.

If there’s one thing Jeff is, it’s the real deal. A redneck to his core, he’s always ready to help—whether it’s fixing a friends truck or showing up with a six-pack when you need it most. Honesty is his middle name, and he’ll tell you exactly what’s on his mind, no matter what. His dry sense of humor? It’s the kind of wit that makes you pause and wonder, “Is he serious?” But that's what makes him a solid, unforgettable friend.

For nearly 30 years, Tanner has known Jeff as the guy to have by your side—whether it's on the golf course, fishing or just cracking jokes at his legendary bonfires. Jeff’s the one you can count on to keep it real, and his friendship is one we wouldn’t trade for anything.

Jeff

Len has been in Tanner’s life for over 30 years. These two originally bonded through sports, and ever since, Len’s been a pillar in Tanner's life. And while his biceps might be impressive, his heart is even bigger. And his laughter, so  contagious. Distance has never been a barrier for Len and Tanner’s friendship. Whether near or far, these two have kept it going through thick and thin, proving that true friendships aren’t defined by miles apart. Len’s the kind of friend you can count on, and his genuine, caring nature makes him unforgettable to everyone lucky enough to know him.

Sean and Tanner go way back to grade 6, where they first crossed paths in school and instantly clicked. Over the years, Sean’s been the loyal, down-to-earth friend who’s always got Tanner’s back—whether they were playing rec hockey or sinking hours into video games.

He’s the type of guy who always looks out for others, putting them first without even thinking twice. If you need a solid teammate, Sean’s your guy. It’s no wonder he and Tanner have kept this friendship rolling for all these years—he’s just the kind of guy you want in your corner.

Ryan’s the guy who taught Tanner the ropes in the home-building industry, but with their shared interests and love for hockey, he quickly became more of a mentor than a boss—he’s the laid-back, easygoing friend you can always count on. With a personality that makes him easy to be around, it’s no wonder Tanner looks up to him.... Even though he cheers for the Oilers. Whether they’re hitting up a hockey game or playing a round of golf, Ryan’s the kind of guy who makes every hangout feel like a good time. He’s the friend who keeps things chill and always knows how to balance work and fun.

Ben and Tanner go way back, and if you’ve ever seen these two together, you know they’re a combo made for chaos. Ben’s got the energy of a caffeinated squirrel and a goofy personality that makes everything more fun. He’s Tanner’s go-to “all-nighter” buddy—whether it’s for drinks, shenanigans, or both, you can count on these two to keep the party rolling until the sun comes up.

But don’t let the jokes and antics fool you—Ben’s also incredibly smart and cares deeply about his friends. When it’s not about having fun, he’s always there to lend a hand or offer advice. He’s the friend who balances out the craziness with loyalty and a whole lot of heart.
