Please RSVP by June 1
Where will the reception dinner be held?
The reception dinner will be held at the Dakota Cabin within the YMCA of the Rockies. Exit from Tunnel Road onto Association Dr, entering the YMCA of the Rockies Estes Park Center. Continue past the Guest Registration building/main parking lot, and just past Fern Odessa Ln will be a left turn into a small parking lot for the Willome Conference Center, 185 Longhouse Way, Estes Park, CO, 80517. Please park here and follow the footpath up to the cabin. This is the same lot where you will park to meet up for the caravan into the National Park for the ceremony.
Where can I stay in Estes Park?
We recommend booking all lodgings ASAP, as Estes Park is a popular tourist town and can fill up quickly as summer approaches. The YMCA of the Rockies has rooms and cabins available for rent, and we highly recommend staying there if you have children as there are many activities to do around the center. Cabins at the YMCA will be available for booking beginning April 2 at 6 am. There are MANY options elsewhere in Estes Park, ranging from motels to private cabins around town and along the creek, including many options right along Tunnel Rd and very close to the YMCA. Nearby towns for other lodgings are Allenspark (16 miles from Estes), Lyons (21 miles), Longmont (32 miles), and Boulder (38 miles).
What altitude will we be celebrating at?
The ceremony site is located at approximately 9,500 ft, and the town of Estes Park is 7,500 ft above sea level. Please be aware- altitude sickness can affect anyone coming from lower elevations and includes symptoms like headaches, nausea, and shortness of breath. We highly recommend arriving at least one day before the wedding date to allow yourself to acclimate to the altitude if coming from out of state. Taking it easy and drinking LOTS of water + electrolytes are the best way to avoid feeling ill. Also, please be warned that drinking alcohol at a high elevation can cause a faster and stronger effect than at sea level.
What is the dress code?
Casual. Break out your sun dresses, flowy skirts, linen shirts, etc. Our ceremony will be held outside in the peak of Colorado summer, so expect it to be warm. Afternoon thunderstorms are not uncommon in summer months, so consider bringing a rain layer. The sun has a harsher effect at high elevation, so bring sunblock, hats, and shades if needed. There is a short walk along a path to get to the amphitheater (don't worry, its not a hike), so consider practical footwear.
Don't forget a light coverup for the reception. While dinner will be indoors, there is a large outside space open to our guests for socializing, and once the sun goes down, it tends to get rather chilly in the mountains.
What else is there to do while in town?
We recommend taking some time to enjoy the beauty of the Rocky Mountains, especially if you will be traveling from out of state to join us. Estes Park is the gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park, where you can hike, take scenic drives, see birds and wildlife, and learn the natural history of the area. The town itself has shopping, a small theme park, the historic (and haunted) Stanley Hotel, summer art festivals, and many great restaurants. You can even take a long, scenic drive along Trail Ridge Road, all the way across the National Park to the charming mountain town of Grand Lake. Please note- during the summer, timed entry is required to get access to the National Park from 9am to 2pm. Get timed entry reservations starting May 1, 2025, or try to get a reservation the day before at 5pm, but know that the day before passes sell out quickly. For the wedding, we have a permit to gain entry for all, so timed entry is not needed for the ceremony.
