Our Wedding

A truly modern love story: we met on OkCupid! For those that don't know what that is, it was an app in 2016. Is it still around?! Our first date was at Joe's Cafe, a Santa Barbara staple. We drank whiskey sours (Holly) and 805s (Ben) and talked the night away. We quickly started spending all of our time together. Going to the movies, the beach, hikes and everything in between.

After a year of dating, we moved into our first crappy small apartment (and loved it). We adopted our sweet boy Oliver and quickly became a little family of 3.

On our 7th anniversary, Ben proposed at sunrise at the summit of Haleakalā in Maui.

We have been through so many huge life changes together over the last 8 years. We have moved 6 times, 4 of those in 2 years. We have made huge leaps and stumbled when they didn't turn out as expected. We have survived the unknown of a global pandemic, dealt with the stress of multiple job changes and supported each other through grief and the loss of loved ones. We have also experienced the joy of celebrating big milestones, spent countless hours laughing with close friends and spent time traveling and experiencing new things. On our 9th anniversary, we plan to finally make it official. We hope you will come celebrate with us.

Q + A

Travel to Lewiston, CA is a bit of a trek due to it being in a rural part of Northern California. Most people will likely need to drive depending on where they are coming from. You can also fly into Sacramento and rent a car from there. There are options to fly into Redding directly through United. I would set flight alerts right away as they can be a little pricy.

A short drive to the venue and a great option! This location is on the river and would be a great option for a large group to stay together.

Indian Creek Lodge

A spot close to the venue where you can lay your head.

Lewiston Valley Motel 

This is a great option for anyone ok with camping! They have RVs you can rent in addition to tent camping sites (or RV sites if you have an RV). This is actually walking distance to the venue and would be a great option if this is your thing!! Note from Holly: Them having RVs to rent was news to me. This would be a very cool option if you are cool with it!

Weaverville is a 20 minute drive from the venue and will have more accommodation options (in addition to stores and restaurants).

Travel and Lodging 

For our wedding we are escaping to the mountains of Northern California. It will be the beginning of the Summer and will be a great time to hike, swim and explore! The bride grew up in the small town of Lewiston, CA and will be happy to recommend activities and maybe provide the location of some secret local's favorites.

We know we have many people in our lives who love to hike and explore the outdoors. We encourage you all to explore the Trinity Alps! If you have the time and want to explore a part of Northern CA that you might not otherwise have the chance to, we highly encourage it. <a href="https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/tangle-blue-lake-trail" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Tangle Blue Lake</a> would be an idyllic setting and a great one to visit!

The Trinity Alps

Trinity and Shasta both have beautiful lakes and is a great option for June. If you want to camp, stay in a cabin or take a boat out, this is the perfect time! If you visit Trinity Lake Resort, please tell Shannon and Eric that Holly Higgins sent you.

Trinity Lake Resort & Marina

There are few places that mean as much to me (Holly) as the Trinity River. I grew up on this river and is where we have decided to get married. There are many options for rafting down the Trinity. If you want to stay close to the venue or if you want to drive a little bit "down river", there are options to choose from. This would be an amazing experience for those that have never done it!

Trinity River Rafting

There is a lot you can do in this section of Northern CA that are a drive from Lewiston. You can drive to Shasta Lake and Mt. Shasta and explore your way that way. You can also drive west towards the coast and explore your way down the the redwoods. All would be great options and a great excuse to make this trip a vacation!

Our venue has some of the best food in the area! They will be closed on Saturday (for obvious reasons) but if you are around and looking for a place to take your family, I recommend!
