Our Story

Cameron and Holly first crossed paths on December 30, 2021, in New Bedford, MA. Intrigued by Cameron's charm, Holly had reached out multiple times to keep the conversation flowing. Finally picking up on her hints, Cameron asked her out on a date, and they quickly found themselves immersed in deep conversation that stretched into the early hours. Their connection only grew stronger, leading them to officially start dating on February 2, 2022. Despite facing various challenges along the way, their love thrived, culminating in a heartfelt engagement on June 12, 2024, marking the beginning of their next chapter together.

The Proposal

Cameron spent countless hours planning the perfect proposal, determined to keep it a surprise, low-key, and intimate — a challenge in the age of phone cameras and social media. To make matters even trickier, he had worked the overnight shift at the time, from 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM. The first step in his plan was to ask for Holly's mother, Maria's blessing. Nervous but determined, Cameron arranged a coffee meeting with Maria. As soon as they sat down, Maria eased his nerves — she already had a hunch about the reason for the meeting. Relieved, Cameron was finally able to move forward with his proposal plans. He decided to propose in New Bedford, the city where they had met. At the south end of the city sits Fort Taber Park, a special place for Cameron because it was where he had been sworn in as a New Bedford Police Officer in May 2021. Now, he wanted it to be the backdrop of another significant moment in his life. The challenge was getting Holly to the park without her suspecting anything. That’s where Sarah, Holly's friend, came in. Since the weather was perfect, Sarah suggested taking some photos after work, which was exactly the excuse Cameron needed to get her to the park. Cameron prepped everything meticulously: a cooler packed with cheese, crackers, and her favorite drinks, plus a blanket to set the stage. He arrived early at the park to set up with the help of his friend Stelvio, who helped calm his nerves. Together, they hid behind some bushes, keeping a close eye out for Holly’s arrival. On Wednesday, June 12, Holly and her friends arrived at the park. When they were about halfway up, Cameron stepped onto the path toward her. Holly, clearly confused, asked, “What are you doing here?” Cameron took her hand and led her up the hill toward the picnic setup. It was then that Holly realized what was happening. At the top of the hill, with the city skyline behind them, Cameron dropped to one knee and asked Holly to marry him.

This is where the Bride and Groom, their families, and the wedding party will be staying. We would love for our guests to stay with us at the Courtyard Marriott Providence-Warwick to enjoy our late-night after-party, where you can join us around the fire pit with pizza and drinks! Note to those who are staying at the hotel:We have transportation from the Hotel to the cocktail hour, which will&nbsp;depart promptly at 5:30 PM, so please arrive on time. The bus will remain at the venue and bring you back to the hotel at 11:00 PM, just in time for the after-party!
