NATHAN'S STORY

It started junior year on the night before classes in the fall I went to play cards with my friends Luke, Teddy, and Maycee. As it turned out, Maycee brought Hope along with her. I didn’t think anything of it and we didn’t really interact at all. A couple weeks passed and we had our annual fall painting pick-a-date. It was a few days away and I was prepared not to go until Maycee said that I should go with Hope. She said that it would be a fun time and that worst case scenario I could just hang with her and Luke. She kept on bugging me about it and so I eventually said I would and I got her number from Maycee and asked her to go. The pickadate exceeded my expectations as it was not painfully awkward like many pick-a-dates are. The next day we had a double date with Luke and Maycee and that also went well which is when she officially came onto the radar. I asked her on a date shortly after which went well and a month later we started dating.

The past couple years have been fulfilling and lots of fun as we have grown to know each other better, love each other better, and have lots of fun along the way.

HOPE'S STORY

Nathan and I met when I transferred to Taylor University my junior year of college through our mutual friends Luke and Maycee who were dating each other. Luke lived on Nathan’s floor and was good friends with him, and Maycee was my teammate. I didn’t really want to date since I was getting used to a new school, but that didn’t deter Maycee or Luke. The first time I guess you could say I “met” Nathan was when we played cards in a group of people. Macyee had kind of pulled me along after a super long day of orientation, so I remember maybe saying two words.

A couple weeks went by, and Nathan’s floor put on a group date called a “pick-a-date.” Maycee was going and persuaded me to go with Nathan because she didn’t know any other girls going. At this point, Luke was now also trying to get Nathan and I together. I remember almost turning around on the walk to Wengatz because I was so stressed and didn’t really want to meet someone knew. When I walked in, I remember immediately noticing his smile and how energetic he was. I thought he was about to take off sprinting.

Well, his smile is still one of my favorite things and he is still just as energetic. Since October 6 when he asked me to be his girlfriend, February 15 when I became his fiancé, to now waiting to be his wife, I have loved every minute. Nathan has taught me so much about the joy of simply doing life and being willing to try something new. He has walked me through some of the toughest moments at Taylor and isn’t afraid to speak truth into my life. He is the biggest reminder to me that the Lord’s plan is greater, and I cannot wait to love him as a godly wife is called to.
