We are planning to have the cocktail hour at the Lakefront Pavilion, and then we'll head to the Balthis-Rodwell Building for the reception after the cocktail hour. We will have propane heaters on hand, just in case it's a little chilly. If at any point it's too chilly, feel free to head to your room to grab a sweater or a jacket, and come on back to the party!

Babysitting

While we have not included young children in the wedding festivities, Kanuga is a very family-friendly place and children are welcome to come for the weekend. Kanuga will help arrange babysitting for the ceremony, reception, or at any other point during the weekend. The hourly rate for babysitting is dependent upon the number of children and their ages.If you have any further questions regarding childcare or would like help getting in touch with the appropriate person at Kanuga, feel free to reach out to Hope or David.

Here is a list of items you may wish to bring with you:Flashlight (it can be pretty dark at night, a flashlight may help you navigate) Cooler (there is an ice machine on campus) Hiking/outdoor apparel Jacket (or other clothing to layer in case it is chilly) Rain gear (just in case) Snack food and drinksPlease note that guest rooms do NOT include the following:TV, phone, hair dryer, shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, iron, or ironing boards.All lodging types will have the following:Sheets, towels, blankets, pillows, soap, and toilet paper.Guest houses and cabins also have mini fridges, firewood for the fireplaces, and many also have coffee makers. There is coffee and tea available twenty-four (24) hours in the Dining Hall foyer.If you forget something, Charlie's Canteen is an on-site convenience store with snacks, drinks, and basic necessities.

Enter Kanuga's address (130 Kanuga Chapel Drive, Hendersonville, NC) into your GPS. After you turn onto Kanuga Chapel Drive from Kanuga Lake Road, continue down the road past the tennis courts and take a left into the first paved parking lot after you pass the tennis courts. You will turn just before/in front of the main chapel, The Chapel of the Transfiguration. After you turn into the parking lot, the lobby will be in the far left corner (just to the left of the Shop at Kanuga), and that's where you will check in. They can give you a map of the property to make things a little easier. If you can't find something, don't hesitate to stop and ask someone - the staff is very friendly and helpful!

The Kanuga Registration website is up and running! Please register when you have a chance by clicking on the "visit website" link below.Kanuga is a retreat center just outside of Hendersonville, NC. Hope's family has gone to Kanuga for many years, and it is a place that is near and dear to the Lumpkins. We hope you will love it as much as we do.There are three different options for lodging at Kanuga: historic cottages, guest houses, and the inn. The historic cottages are all centrally located with three (3) to six (6) bedrooms, many with their own bathrooms. Each cottage has a porch, living room with a fireplace, kitchenette, and most with two (2) twin beds in each bedroom.The guest houses each have four (4) bedrooms and four (4) bathrooms, a living room with a fireplace, and a porch. Most of the bedrooms contain one (1) twin bed and one (1) double bed. The guest houses are a little farther away from the main part of Kanuga's campus. The inn has hotel-type rooms, with two (2) beds (two (2) double beds or a double and a twin) and a private bathroom. Some rooms have patios or balconies. The building is handicap-accessible. For cost information for the weekend, please visit the Kanuga registration website below. The cost is the same regardless of which type of lodging you select. You will have the option to request who you would like to share a cottage, guest house, or inn room with. The cost of lodging includes three meals per day. Meals are served in the dining hall at 8:00 a.m., noon, and 6:00 p.m. They are able to accommodate all dietary needs.The cottages and guesthouses are well-suited for bringing any other food and beverages you may wish to have during the weekend. The porches are wonderful for sitting back and enjoying a drink or two with friends and family.Unfortunately Kanuga does not accept reservations over the phone, you must use their registration website. If this is a problem, please call or e-mail Hope or David. Additionally, while we have reserved space for guests at Kanuga, that space will be made available to others October 1, 2015. We recommend making reservations for lodging at Kanuga prior to that date.If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask Hope, David, or either family.
