Hope and Josh were super cool in college and first met through the ultimate frisbee teams at The University of South Carolina. They only really knew each others names for the first two years they were on the teams together. In the fall of 2019, Hope, knowing Josh was single and ready to mingle, stood by the beer pong table at the first frisbee party of the school year and tried to look like she was in desperate need of a pong partner. They ran the table for 18 rounds of beer pong, but left the party without exchanging numbers.

Josh messaged Hope on Tinder (they had previously matched but exchanged very few messages) and sent her his number. Hope was sitting in the car with Sara and Deanna who, for some reason, told her not to text the cute boy back right then. When Josh didn’t receive a text, he thought it was all over.

It wasn’t over for Hope though, and she started scheming for ways to get close to the boy she thought she had a lot in common with. They had both been camp counselors, were athletic, and in the honors college. She would “just happen” to end up standing next to him at the next home football game and would invite him to her parents tailgate for food. Josh didn’t come to her parents tailgate the first time she invited him, so she decided she needed a better plan for the next game. It was getting cold at the football games at night, so she brought a blanket to the tailgate. Her intention was when it got cold at the game, she’d offer Josh to share the very small blanket with her😉. It ended up not being cold enough for a blanket that night, but they started “talking” and soon made things official after spending many nights out playing bingo in Five Points.

Josh moved into the house next door to Hope in June 2020, and they ended up quarantining together during their last year of college. When Josh made the decision to take a job in Chattanooga, TN upon graduation, Hope followed his plan and got a job in Chattanooga moving up in January 2021. Josh moved up in May, and they rented an apartment together. Josh brought Hope back to the Riverwalk in Cayce, SC where they used to meet to decompress together after college classes to propose in October 2022. They have loved every minute together and are excited for what the future holds for them!
