WEDDING DAY for Hope and Derek

Our Wedding

It started in November 2023 when “Chauncey” was scrolling through his timeline on TikTok and came across Hope’s post. He stopped for a minute to see who this woman was and continued to scroll through other individuals’ posts. Hope’s face weighed heavily on his mind as he approached the third to fifth post. He decided to scroll back to the original place where he had noticed her post and decided to look at her profile. After viewing, he started following her on TikTok officially. A few days later, Hope noticed that Derek viewed her profile and wanted to see who this man was. Just to make sure he was real, and the profile was not a catfish profile. Hope began investigating a little more. Once she felt comfortable, she followed Derek back. After months of viewing each other’s profiles for almost an entire year, and no one saying anything to each other, but stalking each other’s pages. Derek mustered up enough courage to like one of her stories in July 2024. Hope saw it and marked it with a heart. Unfortunately, Derek still did not approach or say anything after that. It wasn’t until October 8, 2024, after seeing that Derek viewed her profile yet again, that Hope said to herself, “Oh, he is handsome, I am going to shoot my shot and say hello”. From that initial hello, the conversation went from the DM's to the phone very quickly. The conversation seems so natural and easy, especially after finding out that they had so much in common with each other from being PK’s (preachers’ kids), their love for God, family, and a strong desire to be married and eventually have a family one day. After three weeks of talking, Derek asked Hope to be his girlfriend, and she accepted. Soon after, Derek booked a flight from Nebraska to Georgia to meet his then-girlfriend face to face. They immediately hit it off (even though Derek was super nervous). After that time, they would fly to each other to make their long-distance relationship work. They toyed with the idea of marriage, which was brought up in several conversations. In December 2024, Hope went to visit Derek for New Year's. This was the visit he decided to make an appointment for her to meet his parents. After that meeting, Derek knew in his heart that Hope was the person he had prayed to God for, and it was confirmation for him. He made it his business to fly out in January 2025 to meet Hope's parents and ask for their blessing, which was very important for him to do. Derek’s favorite question to Hope during that time was “What do you want out of this relationship?” and “What can I do for you”? Hope would always answer, “I want something concrete”. So on February 15th, 2025, Derek planned a thoughtful and unique proposal in Omaha, Nebraska, and asked for Hope’s hand in marriage in which she accepted!
