Byron and Hope first met in the courtroom of County Court at Law 2 in Ellis County during the Summer of 2022. He was a defense attorney, she was a prosecutor – can we make it any more obvious? For two years, they worked with (and against) each other in the courtroom, becoming work friends in the process.

The very first time the two interacted outside of work – ironically at a local election event neither one of them particularly wanted to attend – Byron and Hope realized they’d wasted the past two years. It was an instant – timeless – connection.

With that, the rest was history. It was as if they had always been in each other’s lives – they fit seamlessly. Even Hope’s beloved cats, Draco and Percy, graciously accepted Byron as their “spare human” (though it helps that he’s the one usually getting up early to feed them). Byron and Hope soon also adopted their pomsky, Loki, who is very happy to be with his best friend, Draco, his second-best friend, Percy, and his favorite human, Byron (second favorite human, Hope, is okay, too).

It was no surprise that the two were engaged after just a few short months after officially dating. It also wasn’t a huge surprise when Byron converted Hope to the Dark Side by inviting her to join him as a defense attorney.

Now, two people who were fairly certain would never get married are overjoyed to be planning their wedding and their future together, which will hopefully include lots of travel. Over the last year, they’ve travelled to Hot Springs, Galveston, Houston, Fredericksburg, Austin, San Antonio, Colorado Springs, Fort Collins, Boulder and Cozumel together. The two already have plans to go to Ireland, Denmark, Scotland, and Iceland within the next year.

Hope and Byron are excited to welcome their friends and family to celebrate with them on November 15th!
