Our Wedding

Hunter &amp; Margaret’s story begins with similar adventures in different places. Both with new found freedom to explore chose individually, but somehow in unison, to enrich their lives with long term travel. Margaret set her sites on Europe and Hunter was called to the American west. Living a complementary life while not having met, the two followed their values by reconnecting with extended family in these places, including close friends on their travels, and living independently and on the move. Little did they know that these independent paths would send them crashing into each other. After their respective travels, both decided to continue the spirit by moving to a new city to take on the challenges of being a stranger in a new land. Like divine intervention, both Hunter and Margaret had their eyes set on the majestic and captivating Pacific Northwest.&nbsp;

Only moments after settlement in Seattle, like magnets brought together, the two met and it was love at first sight. Both remember their first date feeling like reconnecting with an old friend who you have missed dearly. Immediately, they recognized their commonalities but were also deeply attracted to each other’s uniqueness.&nbsp;Their first date was negotiated between the two. Hunter offered a vegetarian restaurant to both accommodate Margaret’s vegetarianism and to share his love of good food with her. Margaret coyly countered with an enticing cold beer and soft pretzel at a local brewery unknowingly articulating one of Hunter’s favorite pastimes. The two somehow already began looking after each other.

After sampling Elysian’s IPA collection and pretzel bites, the two could not part without planing their next date. These meeting continued and snowballed while the two shared their dreams, pains, ambitions, and prayers with each other. All of which affirmed their suspicions that they were made for each other. Overwhelmed by this realization Hunter sought council with his close friend who told him what would later become the couple’s motto; “Don’t be afraid of good signs”&nbsp;

And with that ,the two chose to embark on this relationship without fear. But neither could leave their families behind. The next milestone was clear, they needed to share each other with their families. Margaret hesitantly presented Hunter to her grandparents in sunny Sequim Washington. Hunter was met with hospitality and love as he met who he suspected would be his future family. The four spent the weekend sharing coffee &amp; views of the Olympic Mountains as they exchanged stories of places they have been. Hunter responded by valeting Margaret on what the two now call The Texas Tour. On this journey Margaret saw where Hunter had spent much of his life &amp; met his friends and family all in one long road trip.

Now that they both were well versed in the other’s past and present, it was time to craft new memories together. The two filled their weekends with hikes in The Cascade mountains, camping trips to the Olympic coast line, ski trials followed by true crime podcasts, weeknight cooking, dance lessons where the two surprised themselves, and kayaking almost entirely above water. In between and amongst these adventures, Hunter and Margaret also sharing pastimes with each other and their families. At his first thanksgiving away from home, Hunter decided to prepare his father’s recipe for jalapeño smoked turkey and at Margaret’s first Horby Christmas, she taught the entire family how to play cribbage. To this day, the Powell’s request Hunter to use the smoker when in Sequim and the Horby’s practice cribbage eagerly awaiting a rematch.&nbsp;

After meeting, falling in love, and sharing that love with their friends and family, the next step was clear. With the same fearlessness that guided the two’s relationship thus far, Hunter decided to plan a proposal. Margaret soon found herself arriving home from work to an unexpected suitcase and new island clothes packed in it. Her full schedule the next day stood in conflict with the items before her. Before she could articulate was in front of her, Hunter revealed that Margaret’s schedule was an intentional fabrication so that they could depart on a surprise vacation. Hunter hide his excitement as he guided Margaret through the sea-tac airport, onto a plane bound to Hawaii, and aboard a sailboat where he asked if she would marry him. Upon her agreement, the sky was painted with two rainbows.

Now their story continues as they eagerly await their next milestone. With the support of their friends and family, Hunter and Margaret will eternalize their relationship in marriage so that they can continue to not be afraid of good signs.&nbsp;

Our Story

First Halloween together. We did a pub crawl in Pioneer Square, Seattle. Hunter got to see Margaret’s makeup skills with the skull makeup she did on him!

This is where our love started to blossom. We hiked Cougar Mountain and were able to talk about ourselves and our lives and what we wanted. By the time we got to the top we were inseparable!

One of our favorite hikes at Franklin Falls! On this hike it started to snow and Hunter started to get his first taste of a PNW winter.

Margaret surprised Hunter with tickets to see the Seahawks vs 49ers. (Sorry Hunter the Cowboys weren’t in town) Since this moment Hunter has taught Margaret about football and now they love watching The Cowboys together and even play fantasy football together with friends. (Margaret wants to be a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader.)

Hunter takes Margaret skiing for the first time! He has skied 3 times before, so he taught her what he knew and they have loved it ever since!

After going down to Portland to spend Lunar New Year and watch The Cowboys with some good friends, Hunter and Margaret were driving back to Seattle when they saw a sign for Tillamook. They made an impromptu roadtrip to the Tillamook Cheese Factory and Cannon Beach Oregon!

Our first camping trip! We did a hike at the furthest northwest point of the continental United States and then went car camping on the Washington Coast at Kalaloch Beach.

For Christmas Hunter got Margaret 6 months of dance lessons. After skiing one day they went to the lodge and danced to the live band. Best gift ever!

When Hunters parents came to visit Seattle, they took them on a dinner cruise on Lake Washington and had the best time.

Hunter surprised Margaret with a trip to Kona, Hawaii and proposes to her. He charted out a sail boat and proposed when the sun was setting and a double rainbow appeared in the sky. A sign from God!

Then head down to the Pike Place Market to see the oldest improve comedy show at Unexpected Productions. Located in Post Alley past the Gum Wall it is the perfect way to end the night!
