Credits to Cindy for taking a selfie for us when we're all intoxicated.
I remember meeting Mi for the very first time back in February 2015 at ILuvPho. Back then, I didn't think we'd be anything. I didn't even think we'd be friends LOL. But little did I know, she was going to become the most important person to me 3 years later.
I met her again a year later during the summer of 2016 playing volleyball at Bryson Park. Even then, I still didn't think we'd be anything. But this was the actual beginning of our friendship. This was when we started to hang out more as a group.
In March 2018, we went on a cabin trip together. I had a little too much to drink that first night. I was throwing up (and also crying LOL) so much. Guess who took care of me all night while I was dying on the toilet? ;) We never even talked 1 on 1 with each other until that night, but she was up all night taking care of me. Little did I know, she would be the person who would be taking care of me for the rest of my life. When I was finally done throwing up, she moved me to the couch so I could sleep and tucked me in with her jacket (she wore the same jacket on the day I proposed!) so that I wouldn't be cold :). She also put a cough drop in my mouth and I woke up the next day with it still in my mouth lol.
I woke up the next day and I started to see her as more than just a friend. I started to develop a little crush on her haha. When it was time to go home, I remember everyone hugging each other goodbye. Back then I wasn't really a hugger, but I remember getting out of my car just so I could hug her.
I had butterflies in my stomach the entire week coming back. I remember messaging our group chat asking something and hoping that she would be the one to reply. And she did! I started to think that maybe she liked me too?
Later that weekend, our friends planned to go clubbing at Tongue & Groove. I heard she was going so I decided to go too. With a bit of liquid courage, I was able to confess to her that night. The two of us were hanging out all night, hopping around random strangers' tables (some even gave us free drinks). This was when we both confessed that we had feelings for each other. Two days later, we went on our very first date to eat at Dan Moo Ji and to see The Strangers: Prey at Night. I am absolutely a scaredy cat and I hate scary movies. And she knew it too. But I wanted an excuse to hold her hands during the movie LOL. That same night, I asked her officially to be my girlfriend. The rest was HIStory.
I knew Huy for awhile now, but we never had a real conversation back then, which is understandable because I had a boyfriend at that time :P. He always came off as super goofy, but at the same time, I felt that he was a little reserved. The magic didn't happen until we all went on our first cabin trip. Huy, who used to be called "Throw-up God," definitely lived up to his name that night. I helped him puke his souls out and when he needed breaks, he casually just slept on my lap. After he was done, I helped him to the couch and tucked him to sleep with my bomber jacket and gave him a cough drop to soothe his throat. He actually woke up with it undissolved the next morning LOL. It could've been murder but now we're getting married instead 🤣
At first, I didn't think too much about it since I like taking care of my friends. However, it felt a little different this time since my Maid and Matron of Honor, Cindy and Denny, were putting ideas in my head. They thought I was single for way too long so they tried to pair me up with Huy. I remember when most of us were in the hot tub, Cindy pushed me to switch spot with someone so that I would be next to Huy instead. I was so awkward and was hoping no one caught on...🥲
A week later, I didn't realize that night had made a huge impact on him. We were getting ready to go to Tongue & Groove and pre-gamed at Huy's dorm at Tech. I was impressed at how many shots he was downing until he threw up again 😂. When we got to the club, everyone ended up dispersing and we were abandoned at the entrance. I asked Huy if he wanted to come with me to look for our friends and SOMEHOW, our pinkies linked up. I promise it wasn't me and he swears it's not him either. I guess the wind did it. We ended up hopping from multiple random VIP tables and got to know each other more by intruding those groups. It was refreshing to finally have a conversation and learn about Huy since we were practically strangers. We acknowledged that we had a crush on each other and talked the WHOLE night. Literally, we came back to his dorm and continue to talk while sitting next to his fridge untile the sun came up. A week later, we had our first date at Dan Moo Ji, watched a scary movie (which Huy hated) and now we're past the 6 year mark!
I'm forever indebted to him for making me the happiest gal ever and gaining another best friend for life. ♡
