In 2019 Ian came over to the Finney's annual 4th of July party. A month had passed and he added Chasidy on social media eventually contacting her through Snapchat. Chasidy was 19 at the time and a Sophomore in college. She was babysitting that summer, working on 3 college summer classes, a Chillicothe semi-pro cheerleader, and a part of the first ever NCMC Dance Wave team. Ian is from Wisconsin and was 22, living in Princeton full-time, working on the farm, and prepping for the upcoming deer season. Barely knowing Ian existed, Chasidy was confused who exactly he was. Continuing to talk to each other for quite some time, Ian asked Chasidy to go on a date. Chasidy told him to ask her dad first before going, but didn't give Ian an answer for a while. Eventually, Chasidy gave in and allowed him to take her on a date. Ian picked her up from her parent's house and they went to El Nopal and Walmart in Bethany.
After their date, Ian brought Chasidy along with him to check out a neighbor's deer that had just been mounted. Once they were finally done talking to the neighbor about deer, Ian took Chasidy back home. As he dropped her off, he decided to stop by and visit her parents. Her dad, Brian was chilling out on the couch in his underwear not expecting company. Her dad was unphased and continued on with the visit. It lasted a few hours into the night, just Ian and Brian talking. Chasidy began to realize that they seemed to have known each other for quite some time, even though her dad pronounces Ian as “Inn” as if it was a made-up name. The two of them hang out whenever they can. Most of the time their “dates” consisted of checking trail cameras for the upcoming deer season, in the Polaris General side-by-side, as the two of their family land was next to each other near her parent’s. At one point, Ian asked for a kiss as he was taking her back home, her answer was “NO!” Ian laughed and said okay, but didn’t get that first kiss for a while.
Ian and Chasidy were super happy together and inseparable. They went hunting together, he attended her college basketball games to watch her dance, they went to every family event together, she went up to Wisconsin to visit where he lived, and everything else. Eventually, things became difficult for the two of them and they had to split their ways. Chasidy continued to hangout with Alex, Emma, and Lance as they all became best friends with each other. Chasidy was also a part of Alex and Emma’s wedding. This became an issue for Ian because Chasidy was constantly around the house, as they all lived together. Eventually before she moved away for the next two years of her college they became friends again. They would hang out with everyone like normal as if they were one happy family. Chasidy would come up every weekend she could until after Emma and Alex’s wedding.
Ian and Chasidy split their ways for the next few years and carried on with their lives without each other, still occasionally talking to each other's family members. During their years of separation, they spent time with other partners while growing and maturing. Realizing what was important to the two of them they turned their focus back to each other again. At the end of 2022 they reunited and it was like they were never apart. Chasidy was working down in the Odessa School District and Ian was still working around the farm. She still came up to her family on weekends and during the Christmas break. During her break they spent a lot of their free time together. Their first “date” again was going to get Ian’s truck oil changed. They spent their day together, walked to Hobby Lobby while waiting for the change, and went out to eat. Being together again, it was like they never spent a day apart, but it had been about 3 years.
After New Year's Eve, Ian and Chasidy spent the first 5 months of their relationship long distance. About every afternoon, during the weekdays, they would spend their time on Facetime together. Once the weekend came about, they were usually always together either down south or in Princeton. It eventually became tiring driving about every weekend to each other and Chasidy was tired of living so far away from home, especially for the past 3 years. Once Chasidy finished her first year of teaching, Ian and her grandpa Rudy moved her up the next couple of days. She didn’t quite finish her sublease, but Ian was very excited for her to move up.
Chasidy got all of her stuff moved in with the help of Ian and her grandpa. After awhile, Ian carried her inside like people would back then and then he gave her necklace. This wasn’t just any necklace though, it was a sweet and simple little dainty necklace with a tiny diamond. That diamond turned out to be from his Ohma’s wedding ring. It held special value to the two of them. It meant a lot to Ian especially because it was his grandmas and Chasidy’s housewarming gift.
As time went on, Chasidy got all moved in and settled. She fixed up the place and really made the house a home. Ian and Chasidy spent all of their spare time they could together. Riding side-by-sides, driving around the farm looking for deer, boating, cooking, cleaning, and overall enjoying life together. They also spent a weekend up in Wisconsin and Chasidy got reunited with many family members. After being away, they missed being home and of course, their dog Whiskey. Throughout the day, Chasidy would clean and make the old brick house a live-in home and Ian would work around the farm. During the evenings they would prepare meals and do something together. One evening, they went on a side-by-side ride with Alex, Emma, Henly and Whiskey down to the Marsh. Ian was anxious for some reason and then it made sense. Before they got to the river, Ian pulled out a ring out of his pocket, still in the side-by-side, and asked Chasidy to marry him. She thought he was kidding at first and kept saying, “for real?” She of course said yes and then the three got their pictures taken by the river. Emma was taking their pictures while Alex was complaining that he was getting eaten up by bugs. Afterwards, they drove around for a little bit longer and then went on home.
