Our Story

As many of you may already know, Heather and Ian crossed paths back in 2001 while attending Fairfield High School. It was a classic scenario where Ian heard through the grapevine that Heather thought he was cute. Ian hadn’t dated much, but since he knew there was no risk of rejection, he asked her out. They saw a movie, shared a lot of laughs, and soon became an official couple. Fun fact - Ian was Heather's first boyfriend! (Turns out, she had it right all along.) Over the next few months, they met each other’s families and shared many adventures that they still reminisce about today. One of their favorite memories was a camping trip with Ian’s family, where they shared a tent, just the two of them, and Ian was a complete gentleman.

In the end, Heather broke up with Ian because “they were different people,” but they parted on good terms and went on to live the next 20 years without any contact.

In 2021, Heather came across some old letters from Ian that struck a different chord in her heart than previous discoveries. She had also recently caught up with some high school friends over dinner, and later that night, she looked up one of those friends in the yearbook—only to find their picture right next to Ian’s! Feeling a pull, she decided to reach out and send a friendly message on Facebook to see how Ian had been after all these years. After a few weeks, Ian saw the message and sent a reply! They quickly moved from Facebook Messenger to texting, and then to regular phone calls shortly thereafter.

Within a few weeks, Heather flew from LA to Sonoma County to meet up with Ian, and they spent the evening having amazing conversations over sushi. The next day, they went for a hike before Heather had to fly back to LA. Fortunately, a new airline had just started flying between Burbank and Santa Rosa, and the flights were very reasonable! Heather and Ian became a couple again and began flying back and forth a couple of times a month for the next nine months, until Ian made the move to LA.

They spent two years in their first apartment together, going on regular hikes, enjoying sushi, and, much to Ian's reluctance, getting him to the beach with Heather every so often. In December 2023, during a visit to Palm Springs (Heather’s favorite spot!), Ian proposed—and Heather said YES without hesitation!

In February 2024, they moved back to Fairfield, where it all began, and have been living in Heather’s childhood home as they plan their wedding and future together. They can’t wait to celebrate their marriage with all of you!
