Our Story

by Ian Peterman

Just like every modern love story in the 2020’s, we met on a dating site (Bumble for those wondering where to find the truest of loves). She was immediately drawn to my profile because of my dog (obviously) and questioned my prompt answer: that I wake up ridiculously early but promise to make breakfast in bed. As a lover of dogs and breakfast food, Avery decided to message me, and next thing you know, we are on our way to our first date. I selected the location, an indoor putt-putt course called “Another Round”, because Avery said her dog was named Arnie Pawlmer, and I was down for the golf puns.

As soon as Avery walked in, I was drawn to her bubbly and quirky personality along with her spastic mannerisms and exuberant energy. We hit it off right away so after our round of mini golf, we decided to go eat at one of her favorite restaurants in Bishop Arts for a nightcap. We talked for hours at the bar until the restaurant closed. When we said our goodbyes that night, we agreed to go on a second date in a "couple" of days. In classic Avery fashion, she didn’t answer the next 10 or so texts of mine attempting to follow up for a second date. Finally, after nine long days, she finally decided to check her phone and responded to each text rapid fire, and the rest is history.

After a couple of great dates, the natural next step was introducing our canine children to one another. Bean and Arnie were hesitant at first, but in the end, they warmed up to each other and decided to let their parents date full-time. Our crew became inseparable, and within a matter of months, I was headed to San Antonio to meet Avery’s family. I could immediately sense that this family was one I could be a part of for the rest of my life. It wasn't long after, Avery converted me to a Texas Longhorns fan and in return, she became a Patriots and Bruins fan (probably would’ve been a dealbreaker if not).

Our relationship continued to grow, and before you knew it, we were signing a lease to move in together (along with my bff, Maxie, of course). Over the past year we have grown immensely together, and we couldn’t imagine life without the other’s odd hours of activity - While Aves is more known for staying up late and pressing snooze in the morning, I, on the other hand, have a well-documented history of going to bed unreasonably early and driving to Buc-ee’s at 3AM followed by a 5AM dog park session. Opposites truly do attract.

Eventually, after consulting with Ella Bean and procuring the stamp of approval from Avery’s family, I decided to pop the question in my hometown city of Boston. And now here we are! We are grateful for each and every one of you and could not be more excited to celebrate with those we love the most. Thank you for being such an integral part in this next chapter of our lives!
