Ilaura and Declan met in Denver, CO on a night out in December 2019. Their respective work Christmas parties ended at the same bar where Ilaura unknowingly pulled up a chair besides Declan's. They went on their first date the following Wednesday at Linger restaurant.

When COVID hit, the two got to know each other very well as they were cooped up together in Declan's downtown studio. As the months progressed and the relationship developed, they welcomed George to the family in August 2020 and moved out together in November 2020.

The marriage proposal was made in the presence of friends and family on November 23rd 2022 - crashing Ilaura's birthday dinner. The couple now lives in the house they recently bought in South Minneapolis.
