Adam joined a student organization at SFASU called The BIG Event, a community service organization that helps give back to the college community. I was an Assistant Director when Adam joined as a crew member in my committee, but we didn't really know each other or hang out outside of the organization meetings at this point. See if you can spot us in this group pic!
I went to do an internship for the Disney College Program and Adam kept rolling at SFA. I applied for a BIG Event Student Director position from afar while I was still in Florida and got selected - yay! We did interviews for Assistant Directors to work alongside for the following school year (one of which was Adam!) and he got a spot on our leadership team - also yay! - so we started working more closely.
I came back to SFA and picked up my Big Event responsibilities while Adam took on the role of an Assistant Director. The whole leadership started to become friends! The friend group begun to hang out regularly, eat dinner together, and work on Big Event projects. A handful of the leadership team was selected to attend a conference at Virginia Tech, and the friendships got even closer! Over time, Adam and I started to hang out one-on-one and figured out that we liked each other. :)
We start officially dating!
COVID starts and we quarantined together. This period really proved how well we work together - we are really great roomies! We watched lots of movies, made makeshift meals with limited groceries, and hung out with my cat, Hopper, who Adam loved right from the start (even if he won't admit it).
Adam decided to stay in Nacogdoches for another year to earn his master’s degree. I entered my senior year and started researching graduate schools for the next school year. I decided on Bridgewater State University in Massachusetts and Adam decided that he would go with me!
I volunteered at the animal shelter and got suckered by a small kitten called Carlos (now known as Casper). I adopted him shortly after, and Adam and Hopper slowly accepted him into the group against their will (they both love him now).
Adam graduated with his master’s and I graduated with my bachelor’s. Axe ‘em Jacks!
We made the big move to Massachusetts. I started grad school and he started his first adult job!
We adored our life in New England. We made new friends, ate at lots of amazing gluten free restaurants, discovered Wegmans (the best grocery store in existence), and traveled A LOT!
After I graduated with my master's, we headed back to Texas to be closer to family. We both started new jobs in Austin and enjoyed hanging out with friends and going to trivia (RIP Austin Eastciders Collaboratory).
We took our first trip to Europe to see the Eras Tour and experience a new part of the world! We visited the UK, France, and the Netherlands. While in France, Adam proposed in the beautiful garden of Versailles and I said YES, of course! Best week eeeever.
We'll tie the knot!
