Heeey fam and amigos, Let me introduce myself. Im Irene Bartelt, Im from SoCal, Simi Valley. I grew up playing soccer and although I don’t play anymore I still love the sport. I’m only mentioning this because it’s a key part in mine and Jasons story but we’ll get to that later. Now I’m going to pass it to Jason to introduce himself.

Hi there, me llamo Jason Ramirez y hablo español ;) I was born and raised in San Francisco CA and I grew up loving God, family and fútbol (soccer).

And back to me (Irene). Now for our story, It all started in the summer of 2021, Fourth of July weekend. A girl from SoCal and a guy from
“The City” (or as we SoCal people like to call it “San Fran”) were at the right place at the right time.

We met through mutual friends. First impression I thought he was very cute, but didn’t pay too much attention to him because I thought the girl he was with was his girlfriend but little did I know it was his cousin (Hi Ana). We exchanged instagrams and what I thought was going to be just a friendship turned into something much more.

For 3.5 years Jason and I were doing a long distance relationship. We both knew that having 385 miles between us was not going to be easy. With MANY FaceTime calls, countless flights from LAX to SFO, and long 6 hours drives, goodbyes were starting to get harder and harder. To the point where we googled “what is the half way point from Simi Valley to San Fransisco” and although it’s not exactly in the middle we agreed on Pismo Beach. With early drives just to see each other for a couple hours and both having to drive back home the same day.

As time went on, the love we felt grew stronger each day, and we knew that we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together.

FYI for the people who don’t know… we got engaged at a soccer game at the Bayern Munich Stadium (hence why we mentioned soccer ;)
