Love Across Boarders

Isaac and Irina met at a NubAbility sports camp, where they both coached their favorite sports to limb different children. At a coach's dinner, they discovered many surprising similarities in their stories. Isaac and Irina were both born with a limb difference and adopted, but Isaac was adopted from Ukraine, and Irina from Russia. Both of their limb differences affected all four of their limbs and required them to wear prosthetic devices. They both realized they shared a passion and call from the Lord for overseas mission in Eastern Europe. A couple of years later, they started their relationship!During a NubAbility sports summer camp in 2024, Isaac and Irina officially considered themselves boyfriend and girlfriend. ;) But of course, there had to be a hurdle. Distance.Isaac lives in Iowa, and Irina lives in Illinois but recently finished her bachelor's degree in Nashville, TN. While distance is hard, they both know that this relationship will be worth the distance and difficulty. They see how God has brought them together and revealed His plan for them. Isaac proposed to Irina on a beach in Florida on May 20th, 2025. She, of course, said “Yes!” "Growing up, I was not too obsessed with finding a guy. I was doing my own thing and was happy single, but I knew I didn’t want to be single my whole life. The time had not come for me yet, but I was a little nervous about who God would present in my life. I remember praying for a man of God who would love me for who I am and how different I looked. It was hard for me to believe that a guy would love and feel attracted to the way my hands and leg looked, but I believed that if God was going to provide someone for me and me for them, then nothing would hinder that. I also remember praying that my future husband would adore the way I looked and specifically adore my hands. I don’t know why, but that was a specific request I had. When Isaac and I met, I definitely thought he was cute, and our stories were wildly similar, but I didn’t think anything would happen. Nothing really did happened for a couple of years. Until...one day, we just really sparked and started to talk...every day, which ended up with us being in a relationship! It was one of those things where I say, “It just happened,” which also indicates to me that it was God’s timing, and not our own. Ever since time has gone by, I have fallen more and more in love with Isaac. We have gotten through the difficulty of the distance because we know this is a relationship worth the patience and the hundreds of miles away from each other. We’ve traveled together both in the states and internationally (if we survived 12+ hour road trips, flying internationally, and survived our relationship, then we are already on a great start!), which has been an amazing blessing God has given us. We both desire God as the center of our relationship, and we have gone to God in times of uncertainty and when we need wisdom in our lives (which is like all the time). On top of that, Isaac has remarked his love for my hands multiple times. If that’s not an answer to prayer, I don’t know what is! I can’t wait to be able to spend the rest of my life with Isaac and see how God moves in our lives and leads us, and I’m excited to be able to spend that day and celebrate with my loved ones!" -Irina At first, I thought she was a cute girl coach that happened to be friends with my sister, but I didn’t think much of it because she was my “little sister’s friend,” and we lived a few hours away from each other and only saw each other once a year. That being said it took some time for me to realize what was there all along. When I first started to get to know Irina, at Nubcamp I was repeatedly taken back by what an amazing and beautiful woman she is. The first thing I noticed was the time and effort she put into her relationships. She was a penpal to my younger sister and would regularly mail her handwritten letters. This was impressive because most kids our age wouldn’t put any more effort into a long-distance friendship other than an easy text or phone calls. Then we actually started talking and finding out all of the things we had in common. Not only the commonalities we had in our lived stories of adoption, limb difference, and faith in Christ, but also our goals for the future. Growing up my parents would pray that God would lead me to the right woman for me and as I got older, I would often pray (beg) God for a girlfriend thinking that I knew what I wanted. I was frustrated that God hadn’t sent me a girl yet and began to slowly question whether my fate was to be single forever. I’m being dramatic but I’m sure many of us know the feeling. Looking back though, I realized that God had it all figured out and that it would be more than I could ever ask or imagine. I’ve had many difficulties in life due to my limb difference and events that seemed to drain the color out of life, but at the right time God blessed me with someone who could understand the struggle and bring so much peace and beauty into my life.-Isaac

Where Should I Park at the Yeakley House?We will have some people at the house to direct where to park! We ask you to not block any neighboring driveways or to not park in the Yeakley's driveway so the Bride &amp; Groom can leave during send off! Where is the Reception?The reception will be in the Yeakley's yard. You can walk around the side of the house to get to the party! What is there to do while we wait for the Bridal Party for the Reception?We will have backyard games, snacks, and drinks for everyone to enjoy while they wait for the bridal party to arrive!
