Our Wedding

Paul and I first met when we were just 13 years old. During the summers, I would babysit my cousins, who lived up the street from Paul’s mom’s house. My cousins were friends with Paul’s brothers, so I would take them to swim at Paul’s house. As we grew older, Paul and I spent hours on the phone talking, but life eventually took us in different directions. The last time I visited Moreno Valley, Paul was working at PetSmart—that was the last time I saw him for many years. Life went on. Ironically, we both got married, had children, and eventually divorced in the same years. It’s funny how life works; looking back, it feels like God had a plan for us all along, even if we didn’t see it then. In 2012, Paul found me on Facebook, and we reconnected. The night before my major surgery, he sent me a heartfelt prayer. That moment changed everything for me. After my surgery, he visited me every day to check on me and make sure I was okay. By June 2012, we were inseparable; by October, we had moved in together. On March 22, 2013, Paul and I married at the courthouse, most spontaneously and memorably. The night before, Paul told me to be ready when he got home because we were getting married. I didn’t believe him until we pulled up to the courthouse, and I turned to him in disbelief and said, “Wow, we’re doing this!” It was just the two of us, with no family or friends present, but it was perfect. Now, 13 years later, our journey has brought us to a new chapter. Paul and I have decided to deepen our faith by completing our Confirmation. As part of this process, we realized we needed to have our marriage blessed in the Catholic Church. So, we’re celebrating the wedding we never had back then, surrounded by our children, family, and loved ones. With gratitude for 13 beautiful years of marriage, Paul and I, together with our children, joyfully invite you to celebrate the convalidation of our marriage through the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony.
