Our Story

We first met years ago at Sight & Sound. Isaac worked for years with my sister, Mackenzie, so we knew of each other and would catch up in passing. In the start of 2023, several people brought up the suggestion that we'd get along well. Mackenzie was the first to say anything to me - in Mackenzie's words, "Isaac is a lot like me. And you and me get along so well. You need to date Isaac." A few months after this, Isaac and I were both working a media shoot at Sight & Sound together, and during lunch break, Isaac grabbed me a coconut cold brew from a local coffee shop he'd been raving about all morning. This started the topic of our mutual love for all things coconut and how my grandma makes incredible coconut cake. Cut to the weekend after that shoot, I was at my grandparents celebrating Easter and my grandma ironically had...you probably guessed it...coconut cake. Because Mackenzie worked with Isaac at the time, I asked her to bring Isaac a piece of the cake for the next day at work (so I will humbly take the bragging rights of making the first move). Upon receiving the cake, Isaac asked if my grandma was single, and Mackenzie responded with, "No, but my sister is. Pretend to date her, and you could get coconut cake at the family holidays too." This was the first time in all 10 years of knowing Isaac that Mackenzie ever saw him get embarrassed and turn beet red. So naturally, as sisters do, Mackenzie proceeded to let me know of the interaction, and that she would be my wing woman. Fast forward to a month later, Isaac and I were both at a wedding, which led to us talking about needing to put together a game night sometime. Out of that convo, mutual friends started hosting different game nights and small talk at the events led to texting, texting led to a first date, and well, here we are! So, thanks to the coconut cold brew conversation, Isaac gets coconut cake (and a wife) for the rest of his life!
