In lieu of wedding gifts, Tyler and Isabel have chosen two Cincinnati organizations to which they request donations be made. The donation links are provided below the descriptions of the organizations in the "Gift Providers" section.
John P. Parker School:
John P. Parker School is a PK-6th school within the Cincinnati Public School system. Ninety-five percent of the students are economically disadvantaged and 25.5% of the students have disabilites. The school is committed to the growth and development of all students, regardless of learning style, race, ethnicity, or creed. It is in the business of cultivating high expectations for staff, students, parents, and our community at large. Using innovative technology, project-based learning and field excursions, students will master the science of analysis and investigation and learn they have the power to make change happen in the community and around the world. The school is named for John P. Parker, who was a conductor in the Underground Railroad. This African-American gentleman was a lover of books. Consequently, in the spirit of his legacy, John P. Parker is a school, "where good students read good books."
May We Help:
May We Helpʼs mission is to engineer dreams for people with disabilities. Their volunteers help individuals to overcome extraordinary challenges posed by daily life, gain independence, and experience enjoyment. They do this by building and adapting devices that will enhance the quality of life for individuals with disabilities, as well as for family and/or caregivers. They believe strongly in building a community in which individuals are defined by their abilities, not their disabilities. An example of their work is with St. Joseph Home. The residents at St. Joseph Home love the simple pleasures of life, like rocking in a rocking chair. Transporting them to a rocker used to be an ordeal, because it required caregivers to lift them out of their beds or wheelchairs and position them safely into a rocking chair. But the May We Help volunteers built a mechanical rocker, designed specifically to accommodate wheelchairs, and now, with a push of a button, residents can rock 24/7. May We Help is changing the way services are provided for those living with disabilities!
