baja california sur

The California coastline extends along the Pacific for 1,600 miles through two countries and three states: California, Baja California Norte, and Baja California Sur. Baja California Sur was the last admitted state of Mexico in 1974 and is renown for its ecological diversity, remote wilderness, beaches, seafood, and world famous tourist destinations Los Cabos and San Jose del Cabo.

Our family's history with Baja California Sur goes back further: my grandmother Elisa Vargas Ruiz was born on a ranch near Todos Santos in 1928. Through the decades she has always called it home. We would take family trips there throughout my childhood, images of its landscapes indelible in my memory.

Isabel's parents also called California home after moving to Treasure Island, San Francisco on a navy assignment before settling in Oakland. They have lived there for over 3 decades.

This coastline is where we are from, where we met (in 2006 during middle school!) and the place that we love. We hope to share that love of California with you during our weekend together. We can't wait.

our venue

In 2018 my parents, Susan and Dante, embarked on a labor of love in building a small home near the small town of Pescadero on the remote coastline. There are two people who, without their help, would have made that dream impossible: Manuel and Silvia. They own the small hotel nearby, Casitas el Salitral and helped my parents build their home which they even got to design.

Our wedding ceremony will take place at their house at 4pm in the afternoon though you are welcome to come as early as 3pm. Casitas el Salitral is at the entrance of the road, and their house is two blocks around the bend. There will be signs.

Immediately after the ceremony there will be what is a called a callejoneada, a musical procession to the reception made up of all of our guests! This will be followed by a cocktail hour, dinner and finally, dancing!

It is located on Kilometer 69 of Highway 19. There will be signs off of the main highway.

If arriving by rental car, follow signs for parking. You will walk 2 blocks to the house of Susan and Dante (if walking is not an option for you, arrange to be dropped off or we can have family/friends give you a lift).

The venue located a little more than an hour's drive north of Los Cabos International Airport (SJD), near the small town of Pescadero and Cerritos beach. It is located on Kilometer 69 of Highway 19. There will be signs off of the main highway.

Most major airports and airlines provide direct flights since Los Cabos is an international resort destination.

cars, carpooling, and shuttles

Most major airports and airlines provide direct flights since Los Cabos is an international resort destination. The airport is Los Cabos International Airport (SJD).

Make sure your passport is not expired and WILL NOT expire within 6 months of the event (3/7/2026). If it is/will you must renew it.

Renting a car

Renting a car will certainly give you more flexibility, especially if you want to explore the area.

All the major car rental companies are based at the airport. Prices start around ~US$60 per day. Cactus Car Rental or MEX Rent a Car is recommended. It takes 1h 15 from the airport to the Pescadero/Cerritos area; there will be tolls on the road costing around ~US$10 (~MX$200) needing to be paid in cash. Fill up with gasoline before you leave the airport as there is not another station.

If you arrive to the venue in a rental, please follow signs for parking.

Carpooling

We’ve set up a way for guests flying into Los Cabos to coordinate ride shares to the venue. If you’re open to sharing a car, have space to offer, or are looking for a lift, please add your details to the carpool coordination sheet (link below). You can include your arrival time, contact info, and whether you’re offering or needing a ride.

Copy and paste this link: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1y26He7bbBCfjBoTT8gR2zjtig-9NledhRKM2OzJWdr8/edit?usp=sharing

Add your name, arrival time, and contact details. Indicate whether you need a ride or have car space to offer. Feel free to reach out to each other directly to coordinate. If you are able to find a ride, click "claimed" on your row.

Private Drivers/Taxis

We have a family member Oscar Urrieta who is a private driver. It will cost around $120 dollars (2,200 MXN). Tips are customary in Mexico.

Taxis will also go to Cerritos/Pescadero, though we are not sure what price it will be. Tell them you want to go to "Casitas el Salitral," Kilometer 69. It is best to coordinate a taxi cab directly from a stall at the airport, they will fix the price for you.

Public Shuttles

Eco Baja Tours runs a shuttle service between San Jose del Cabo Airport (SJD) and Todos Santos.

www.ecobajatours.com

Cost is ~US$24 per person and can be booked one week in advance. They do sell out, so book early.

Ask to be dropped off in Cerritos or nearby El Pescadero. From there you can taxi.

The usual shuttle times are as follows, but always check their website first:

SJD to Todos Santos - 13:30, 15:30, 17:30

Todos Santos to SJD - 8:15, 9:45, 11:30
