For those travelling to Budapest for our wedding, we recommend booking flights to Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport (BUD), which is the main international airport. It's conveniently located just a short distance from our wedding venue (25 minutes by car, 33 km away).

Upon arrival you have different options for reaching your destination:
Taxi: Taxis are readily available at the airport. Outside the airport there is a Fő Taxi kiosk where after standing in the queue one can get taxis of various sizes very easily. Hungary also has Bolt and Uber which are accessible via apps.
A taxi to the Royal Palace from the airport is between 9.000-10.000 Hungarian Forint and all taxis in Hungary run with official meters.
Car rental: Sixt, Hertz, Eurocar, Avis, Enterprise all have car rental options at the Budapest airport. According to our current research car rentals start at 40-50 Euros a day.
MiniBUD airport shuttle: This is a shuttle service from the airport that can be booked upon arrival when exciting baggage claim.
Public transportation: Another option is Budapest's public transportation system which is easily accessible from the airport with buses and trains connecting to the city center and to the Royal Palace of Gödöllő. Tickets can be purchased on the BKK app or at ticket machines located at the airport. A day pass for the public transport costs
1650 HUF (4,5 Euros) and other ticket packages can be purchased on the App or at ticket machines. Google maps has accurate route planning for Budapest, however here are the easiest route to take to the city center and the Royal Palace:
From the airport to the city center (Astoria M) :
Take Bus 100E to Deák Ferenc Tér Metro station. (On this bus one needs to buy a separate ticket for 900 HUF).
From the airport to the Royal Palace of Gödöllő/ Queen Elizabeth Hotel:
Take Bus 100E to Astoria Metro station
From there take M2 underground metro to Örs Vezer Tere.
Take H8 overground train to Gödöllő, Szabadság Tér and from here you can walk easily to the hotel and the Palace.
