The Venue

Welcome to Umbria, the enchanting region in the heart of Italy, where picturesque landscapes meet timeless charm. Nestled amidst the rolling hills of olive groves, Tenuta di Casa Bruciata offers a blend of natural beauty and rich history, providing the perfect setting for our wedding celebration. We can't wait to celebrate love, laughter, and unforgettable moments with you in the captivating beauty of Umbria.

Getting There

Rome Fiumicino Airport (FCO): The drive from Rome takes approximately 2.5 hours.

Florence Airport (FLR): The drive from Florence takes about 2 hours.

Perugia Airport (PEG): The drive takes around 30 minutes from the Perugia airport. The Perugia airport is small and does not have a wide selection of flights, but if you find one that works, they are pretty inexpensive. We recommend booking your transatlantic flight separate for the best deal.

Rental Cars: An international driver's license is not required to rent a car in Italy. But if you get stopped for any reason, you are expected to present one. It's a simple form and usually costs around $20. The fine for getting caught without is upwards of $500.

Trains: The most direct route is from the Rome airport to Perugia. It will have one stop over at Rome Termini and the journey will take about 3 hours. Once at the train station in Perugia, there is a Minimetro to the city center. From Perugia, there is a local taxi service.

Taxis: When in a larger city, there are usually plenty of taxis around to flag down. You can also call one using the app ItTaxi. Uber is available in some cities, but not all.

If you are getting a taxi to the venue, please note that it is unlikely to hail one back due to the location. Please make a plan with other guests or ask us for suggestions.

Accommodation Suggestions

Please check out this PDF for a list of great options. This list is provided from our venue and has local suggestions from villas to apartments to hotels. We recommend coordinating with other guests to rent a space together for easier travel to and from the venue.

Transportation to the venue

We will arrange shuttle services between select accommodations and Tenuta di Casa Bruciata on the wedding day. Details and schedules will be provided closer to the date.

Travel Requirements

Please ensure that your passport does not expire less than six months before your travel date. If you do require a new or renewed passport, please start this process as soon as possible.

Italian Culture

When visiting Italy, it's helpful to keep a few cultural tips in mind. Italians place great importance on greetings; a friendly "buongiorno" (good morning) or "buonasera" (good evening) goes a long way. Mealtimes are cherished social events, so try to relax and enjoy the dining experience without rushing. Embrace the Italian way of life by taking time to savor the beautiful surroundings, delicious food, and warm hospitality.

local currency

A $100 worth of euros is helpful in a pinch but we haven’t found it to be necessary to get before you travel. In our experience, almost everywhere has tap-to-pay, even more so than the US. Check to see if you have a debit card with no foreign transaction or ATM fees and wait until you arrive in Europe to find an ATM to withdraw from.

Tipping Culture

Restaurants: Many restaurants include a service charge (servizio) in the bill, typically around 10-15%. This will be indicated on the menu or the bill. If a service charge is included, no additional tip is necessary.

Bars and cafes: If it’s table service, leaving a euro coin or two is appreciated but by no means necessary.

Phone service

eSIM: If your phone supports an eSIM (most do), check out an app called Airalo. It offers eSIMs that can be activated without needing a physical SIM card. This option is very convenient and cheaper than traditional roaming. It’s our recommended option.

International plans: Most major US carriers offer international roaming plans. Before you leave, check with your provider about their international options. These plans can be convenient but will be more expensive than other options. Ensure your phone is set up for international roaming before your trip to avoid unexpected charges.
