Isabelle was on her way out of her college friends' house when she overheard that they were down a player for their next Dungeons and Dragons game. Thinking it would be fun to try DnD out, she offered to take the player's spot, and the next day she met Chris, who had been running the game for the past year for their mutual friends.
From their first conversation, they hit it off - talking about their shared love for Lord of the Rings and Star Wars, exploring the outdoors, and concerns over the current US Healthcare System (So romantic, I know).
Soon afterwards, the 2020 pandemic hit, and their dates that summer mainly consisted of long hikes around the forests of their hometowns.
When August came, Chris returned to Georgia Tech for his year of interning for the Christian Campus Fellowship (CCF), a program in which he made many lifelong friends. Isabelle headed south to start her exciting journey through medical school at the University of Florida.
Throughout the next two years, they maintained a long-distance relationship through video-call dates and visits to each other's homes over holidays and breaks. When Chris decided to hike the Appalachian Trail after his intern year, they called each other whenever Chris had service, excitedly telling each other about their misadventures on the trail or in medical school.
When Chris completed the trail in 2021, he moved down to Gainesville, and Isabelle and Chris have been together ever since - going on runs and hikes and dinner dates, playing Dungeons and Dragons with friends, and just doing the little things like watching TV or cooking for one another.
In April 2023, Chris and Isabelle went on a trip to Ireland to explore Dublin and hike around the Dingle Peninsula. At sunset, beside the beautiful seaside cliffs, Chris proposed and Isabelle said, "Yes!" (Or, at least, something to that effect between what can only be described as incomprehensible, happy noises).
Thank you for joining us for our wedding - celebrating the life we've already built together and all that is to come!
