Getting to Martha's Vineyard

Martha's Vineyard is an island off of the coast of Cape Cod and there are many different ways to get there! It can be an easy trip, but planning ahead is the name of the game...

Ferry Tickets: The most common, easy and cheapest ferry ticket is through the Steamship Authority which you take from Woods Hole, MA. You can buy ferry tickets online ahead of time or day-of when you get to the terminal. The ferry ride is 45 minutes. Boats go from Woods Hole to either Vineyard Haven or Oak Bluffs.

Driving: If you plan on driving to Woods Hole, and you do not want to bring your car to Martha's Vineyard, look up the Steamship Authority ferry schedule ahead of time and leave enough time to park (an extra 30-60 minutes) at one of the 2 parking lots in Falmouth, MA. While you are on your way, you can look at the "parking" section of the Steamship Authority website and they will tell you which lot is open and which is full. (See parking lots below). There are shuttles that will take you from the lot right to the ferry terminal where you can buy your ticket and walk on the boat! (Bicycles are welcome!)

Bringing your car to Martha's Vineyard: If you do want to bring your car to the island you must make an account and reservation at the Steamship Authority website ahead of time. Once you have your reservation, drive to the Woods Hole Terminal on Cowdry Road and drive right on! During the ride, you can stay in your car, or go upstairs and find a seat to see the open ocean!

Come to Martha's Vineyard for the day: If you do not want to stay overnight, but want to come to the island for the day of the Wedding, that is great! The last ferry leaves Vineyard Haven at 9:45pm.

Peter Pan Bus: You can take the bus from Boston (Back Bay, or South Station) and it will drop you off right in front of the Ferry in Woods Hole! Click here for tickets.

Flying: Yes, Martha's Vineyard has an airport! Book your trip in advance since MV Airport is small. There are also taxis and Uber/Lyft that you can take from the airport to your accommodations.

Car Rentals: There is a Hertz location at the Martha's Vineyard Airport. Click here for details.

Bikes: MV is a very bike friendly island! If you park in the lots, you can put your bike right on the front of the shuttle and then bring it on the ferry very easily.

Uber/Taxis: Ride services like Uber and Lyft are on the island as well as taxi services for you to safely get around!
