Isaiah and I met at a Bible school tucked away in the mountains of Colorado. From the beginning, we became fast friends—though, if you ask him, he liked me from day one. I, on the other hand, thought we were just friends. We spent a lot of time together, getting to know each other better.
When my mom came to visit, she told me she knew he was the one. Apparently, all it took was him walking into the lodge, slamming his Bible down, and running his fingers through his long hair. (Classic Isaiah.)
We did everything together—he even became my unofficial bodyguard. During a season when I was struggling with seizures, he was always there to catch me when the bell would go off. That kind of care is something you never forget.
Then came Valentine's Day. Our school was throwing a little party, and he asked me to swing dance—like we normally did—but this time, he dropped me! He made up for it with a trip to get strawberry ice cream. We sat in the car eating it, and that’s when he opened up about how he felt… although his exact words were, “I don’t know what to do with you.” (Romantic, right?) We decided to stay friends until the end of the school year and see where things would go.
That summer, we both returned to work at the school. He officially asked me out, and we started dating. When summer ended, we were faced with a big decision: try long distance or go our separate ways. We chose love—and a lot of long drives across the state of Montana followed. Eventually, God opened doors for a job and a house, and I moved. We felt so much peace, knowing this was where the Lord was leading us.
Eight months later, we returned to Colorado—the place where his parents met, got married, and had him… and the place where we fell in love. Surrounded by our closest friends who had become family, Isaiah proposed on a ridge overlooking the school where so many of our “firsts” happened—our first hug, our first kiss, our first laughs and tears.
Now, we’re stepping into a new chapter of life together, filled with faith, laughter, and the kind of love that only God can write. We’re so excited for this journey ahead, and we’re thankful to share it with you.
