This will be a Messianic wedding having a mixture of both Jewish and Western/Christian traditions.
The ceremony will take place under a chuppah(canopy) and there will be seven blessings for the bride and groom recited in Hebrew. As per Jewish tradition, there will also be a glass of wine shared by the couple during the ceremony.
What is the significance of the glass of wine?
In Jewish weddings, a glass of wine is shared between the bride and groom. The sweetness of wine represents the sweetness of the life they will build together. The sharing of the glass represents their commitment to each other. After the couple drinks the glass together, and the glass is empty, the groom shatters the glass with his foot to show that the commitment the couple makes is only with each other.
What is the groom wearing?
The groom is wearing a prayer shawl (also called a tallit) in accordance with Deuteronomy 22:12.
He is also wearing a head covering (or kippah).
Will the wedding be indoors or outdoors?
The wedding and the reception will both take place indoors.
What time is the wedding? When should I arrive?
The ceremony will begin at 2:00 PM on January 12th, 2025.
We recommend that you arrive around fifteen minutes early.
Is the venue out in the middle of nowhere?
Please do not be alarmed if your GPS takes you down a dirt road. There should be signs alongside the road at intervals indicating the venue is right up ahead.
What is the dress code?
The dress code is Semi-Formal.
We suggest that men wear a suit or dress shirt and slacks. We suggest that women wear a dress or a blouse with a skirt or slacks.
What happens after the ceremony?
After the ceremony, the wedding party will be taking pictures.
As the venue is one large room, everyone can stay inside as the room is reset for the reception.
Will dinner be served at the reception? What kind of food?
Yes, dinner will be provided.
We will be serving fajitas with both flour and gluten-free corn tortillas.
What time will the wedding reception end?
After the cake cutting and first dances, there will be a fake send off for the bride and groom.
We understand that there may be those who need to leave after the sendoff.
The bride and groom will then renter the building for the Chavurah (Israeli dancing) which will end around 10:00 PM.
