We met at JMU during our sophomore year of college through a campus ministry called InterVarsity. A friendship started to blossom, but thanks to Covid and Jean leaving to study abroad that was quickly halted.

After returning to school the fall of our junior year, Jean saw Isaiah walking up the hill of her apartment complex and asked if he was living there too. (He was!)

Knowing that we would be neighbors, Isaiah took a shot at friends round two and asked Jean to play frisbee, because that was the one thing he knew that we had in common.

We started to hang out more as friends and with our roommates and eventually, we both applied to be on InterVarsity's executive leadership team. A year of service led to long nights, many conversations, lots of (loud) laughs, and a beautiful deepening friendship with some sparks.

As our time on exec came to an end, we found more time to invest in each other. This flourished into a beautiful season of dating.

This season of dating was spent ending our time at JMU, moving to Richmond, and supporting each other from a distance. During this time we started new careers, grad school, and so much in between. After two and a half years full of doing life together, we knew we never wanted to do it apart.

Isaiah took Jean back to a special place for them both at JMU and asked her to spend the rest of her life with him. She overwhelmingly said yes!
