In September of ‘21, Ivey had just moved across the street from my family home. Not long after, I invited her over to play some spikeball with my friends. Though Ivey had been going to my family's church for about two years, we had not spoken much before this point. I had some single friends and I knew she was a cute and sweet girl, so I wanted to introduce her (thankfully that didn’t work out). She kicked our butts that night and quickly became a regular in the friend group.
Fast forward about a month later, neither one of us were looking for a relationship (up to this point Ivey swore she’d never get married). Ivey came over to hangout with some more of my friends, and during that time she challenged me to a game of Madden Football. I accepted, and she then proceeded to beat me. It was at this moment, I knew I wanted to marry her.
Soon after that night, Ivey’s Jeep broke down. I began giving her rides to class just about every day. Ivey always felt bad for me driving her around, but I was praising the Lord for that broken down Jeep! It gave us an excuse to hangout and I wasn't about to miss a chance to. Each and every day, I fell harder and harder for her. I quickly found myself counting down the hours until the next time I could see her.
After multiple advances from me, and multiple rejections from Ivey, around November, Ivey finally decide to let me know that she had feelings for me too. The rest is history. We will have been together for 2 years come February of 2024. What a better way to christen the milestone by becoming life partners! Think about it, two kids who grew up 3 states away, now together forever!
We would not be here if it weren’t for the Lord’s guidance as well as the love and support of our family and friends. We are so thankful for His plan, and YOUR part in it.
After our wedding day, Ivey will join me in Vicksburg where I am currently working as a Civil Engineer at the Army Corps of Engineers. There, Ivey will finish out her graduate school program and continue to pursue her dream of working in the medical field.
Once again, we are so thankful for each and every one of your prayers, and we are SO ready to celebrate our covenant with all of you! Thank you all for the role you played in our love story! Let’s have a Party!
