Iyisha & Aleks' Faith Journeys

Iyisha, having grown up in the church, was baptized at age 16 in 2010. In 2022, she chose to recommit her life to Jesus.

While at university, Aleks began exploring Christianity. Feeling a calling from God, he decided to attend church and was baptized at age 24 in 2022.

Both began attending Parkwood Gospel Church regularly.

A Meeting of Hearts

Iyisha and Aleks met at the Young Adults group at Parkwood and in the summer of 2023 their friendship blossomed, fuelled by mutual friends and engaging in activities hosted by Parkwood's Young Adults. They enjoyed many nights filled with card games, video games, movies, and dinners together.

The Start of Something Special

On January 1, 2024, Iyisha and Aleks confessed their feelings for each other, officially starting their relationship just a few days later on January 4th.

Joyful Courtship

Over the next eight months, the couple cherished their time together, sharing long conversations, going for walks, and embarking on summer adventures, including kayaking, riding the Maid of the Mist at Niagara Falls, and visiting Croatia.

A Beautiful Proposal

On September 10, 2024, at 7:41 PM, Aleks proposed to Iyisha and she joyfully said “YES!”
