We met on the Hinge dating app in early February 2020, in the Greater Salt Lake City area. Ja'Shonae, with her vibrant energy and passion for working with college students, was busy organizing service trips for students at Salt Lake Community College. Travis, on the other hand, was managing the operations of LifeTime Fitness, ensuring everything ran smoothly and everyone had a great experience.

Our first date was a blend of classic fun and casual conversation—bowling and drinks! The laughter, the friendly competition, and the easy conversation set the stage for something special. Just a few short weeks after that memorable evening, the world as we knew it changed when COVID-19 became a national concern. The pandemic, while a challenging time for many, gave us the unique opportunity to spend significantly more time together than we ever imagined we would have so early in our relationship.

As the world slowed down, we took the chance to truly get to know each other. Long drives, countless hours talking about our dreams, fears, and everything in between, and endless nights of Mario Cart and movies became our norm. As our bond deepened, so did our conversations about the future. It didn't take long for us to realize that Utah, with all its beauty, wasn't the place for us. We yearned for a change, a new adventure, and so the job search began and we have currently landed in...

After months of searching and planning, our journey led us to a new chapter in the fall of 2021. We packed up our lives and moved to Broomfield, Colorado! Nestled just a short trip across the highway from our home in Broomfield, was Superior - a charming area that unfortunately faced the devastation of the Marshall Fire in December of 2021. Despite the challenges, the community spirit was strong, and we felt a sense of belonging in our new surroundings.

Ja'Shonae now brings her organizational skills and dedication to the University of Colorado Boulder, working as an Administrative Assistant in the Office of the Chancellor. Travis, with his keen eye for detail and numbers, has found his place as an Auditor with the CPA firm Needles & Associates in Broomfield.

Our journey from a chance meeting on a dating app to building a life together in Colorado has been every bit of something special. Through the highs and lows, the uncertainties and the joys, we've built a foundation of love, resilience, and adventure that we know will carry us through whatever comes next.
