His Story:
This story is written in the third person, omniscient point of view…
Maybe mostly his side of things…
He couldn’t fight away a smile as he spotted her from across the room, bee-boppin’ away to anything coming out of the jukebox. Her energy was undeniable. She reignited a flame inside him he thought was gone forever. She was free and she was beautiful. A beauty that could not be denied, even by his calloused heart. She was ready to meet someone new. Meanwhile, he had been working incredibly hard the past several years to make it on his own after a previous chapter. That flame he thought was gone forever was flaring up again with the onslaught of her energy. She was like nothing he had ever experienced before, and did not know was even possible.
Their lives began to meld at an unprecedented rate. The love they found from one another was not only something new and exciting, but a blessing from above. He had never imagined a woman with such steadfast faithfulness to not only him as a partner, but to God, our unwavering Creator. He did not know how much he needed her in his life, nor the magnitude of her inherent ability to lead him back to our Great Creator.
And so, on a beautiful spring day on the beaches of Hilton Head Island, he took to one knee and presented her with the perfect, round cut diamond ring he had been obsessed with for months. She was taken aback, and immediately said YES!
Her Story:
He invited me over for a bonfire at his place. I had just finished a 12-hour shift at the hospital and showed up at 9 PM still in my scrubs, definitely looking a little worse for wear. But the moment I arrived, time seemed to fly. Within minutes, we were deep in conversation. He was funny, charming, and a great listener—and despite my exhaustion, I was completely intrigued.
When it was time to go, he walked me to my car and surprised me with our first kiss—fireworks. The very next day, he asked me out on a golf date. I told him, “I’m not a great golfer, but I’m an excellent golf cart rider and beer drinker—so sure, sounds fun!”
From there, everything just clicked. Over the next several months, our relationship blossomed faster than either of us expected. We were both surprised by how naturally we fell in love. They say love finds you when you least expect it—and that couldn’t be more true for us.
Since then, we’ve shared a Spartan Race, a ski trip, multiple Chicago adventures, a road trip to Louisville, a dog, and a spring break trip to Hilton Head. It was on that beach—surrounded by my parents, my two kids, and a crowd of beachgoers—that he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.
Of course, I said yes!
